If you are looking for a Highland hotel that fulfils all your visions of what a Victorian shooting lodge should look like, then this is it! Red sandstone baronial style building in fabulously wild countryside with red deer grazing in the garden while you are eating your dinner. An interior with its period features intact, wonderful entrance hall, original polished wooden grand staircase and all public areas festooned with stags' heads. Very pleasant helpful staff, comfortable immaculately decorated rooms and good bar and lounge areas. First class breakfast choice.

Food in the evening would have been OK as a meal at home but unimaginative for a hotel of this standard. Possibly not surprising in low season (as it was for my visit) but certainly over-priced at £37 for two courses.

The way one person checked us in, served us from the bar before and after dinner, waited on us at dinner and breakfast was exceptional especially as almost all tables had other people also to look after who appeared to have a similar level of service - he was so BRILLIANT - service with a smile. (So different from the 5 star hotel where we stayed the night before where at breakfast we had had to wait over 20 mins for coffee/ tea after placing our order and there were about 6 people around supposedly organising it all). Here service was IMPECCABLE and never had to wait - or even ask - just so efficient and thoughtful. And everything was kept so clean.

Beautiful estate home and extremely clean. The furnishings and decor were very comfortable, inviting, and well suited for a historical, well preserved, and very elegant ambiance. We were so relaxed just being here as we enjoyed an evening cocktail (a very good bar selection) and looked out at a most pleasant, wooded view. The breakfast was well prepared, ample, and very nicely presented. The family-based owner was so very pleasant and friendly! We purposely selected this hotel so that we could enjoy Beinn Eighne in the early morning without a long drive (so location is excellent), and after a great sleep and breakfast, we weren't disappointed. We would highly recommend staying here. So glad we didn't stay in busy Inverness!! It was worth the pleasant and short 30 minute drive.

Everything was perfect.

What can I say!!! What an amazing setting and what an amazing property. The hotel was "wow" from the time we drove up the driveway. The hotel was really well appointed as we're the rooms. The restaurant served great food, and the breakfast was awesome. I would highly recommend this property. It's a little of the beaten track and we'll worth the drive.

Everything, Craig is a superb host & has a lovely disposition, nothing is too much trouble. The service was outstanding and cleanliness was a 10, we also dined in the restaurant and the food was faultless. This is by far one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The lodge is outstanding & it’s like stepping back in time.

Nothing.

The hotel is in a lovely location even though it's near a main road. The reception area is welcoming with traditional country house decor. Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was clean and modern. Due to staff shortages there was a limited dinner menu but the food was enjoyable. There was a good choice for breakfast though

The price per night seemed expensive and we didn't get to experience the fine dining luxury due to being the only guests on our first night.

Classical victorian hunting lodge in a spectacularly remote location with great views of the mountains, making it ideally located for walking or mountaineering. The interior is very comfortable, with friendly and helpful proprietor and staff.

They had an unexpected problem catering for the evening meal, but improvised quickly on the night with tasty soup and snacks - redeeming the situation.

Beautiful property. Made to feel very welcome. Staff were very helpful. They made sure we didn’t go hungry even though their agency chef had let them down.

It was our anniversary so we’d picked this hotel for its lovely restaurant to celebrate, so we were a little disappointed that it wasn’t available. No fault of the hotel. They did all they could to make sure we were comfortable and fed!

We had a lovely large room which was excellently furnished at the front of the hotel. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was really good.

The only critism I would have, and it is only small. We were taken from the lounge into the dining room to eat earlier than the time we booked a table. Making it a long evening after we had eaten.

stately manor home with fine antique furnishings. Beautifully decorated bedroom with updated bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Quiet rooms with no noise from other rooms. Several unique sitting areas downstairs. small bar room and large lovely breakfast room. Full English breakfast available on the buffet as well as traditional continental offerings. staff was very friendly and accommodating. plenty of off street parking. temperature controls in room.

no complaints. a bit of a country setting. they were not serving dinner during our stay due to staff shortages but let us know several days before arrival. We had dinner in Ullapool, which was about an hour away.
