Running a small hotel isn't an easy task especially during low season and in nowadays reality. The hotel is not fancy but it shines when the stuff does its job in unition. I am not an easy guest as I know the profession of running reception (and reception is the command center of any hotel) first hand, thus sometimes I let immediate scrutiny get the best of me. As for La Place, all I know is that I slept well, laughed much and was aided by the stuff constantly and wholeheartedly. Many thanks to Eva and... Juliano!!! a master of the craft.

Breakfast.

Welcoming and friendly staff. Nicely furnished room, comfortable bed. Sofa Tea/Coffee available. Flat screen tv. Checkin / Check out was very smooth. Breakfast was a varied menu and good quality food. Only 250m from Baker Street Underground Station.

N/A all round pleasant stay

The location was very convenient to Baker station and a brief walk to the Wallace Collection and Wigmore hall. The breakfast was excellent and the staff was great. Having AC was a plus and a lift.

The room was a little tight and the bed new was too hard for me. The shower was so small that I regularly turned the water off by just moving to wash. One morning there was no hot water. But this got fixed.

I chose the location because it was close to several things we wanted to see. Really, because of Sherlock Holmes and staying in what was basically his neighborhood. Also because I prefer quieter locations, which it was, but with restaurants in walking distance. There are many and varied nearby. I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the staff.

Well, they have a wine bar but a poor selection of wine! I opted for the spirits instead.

The staff was really friendly; the breakfast was included in the price; good location near the Baker's street underground station; the location has an elevator to all the rooms; the neighborhood is relatively quiet and the windows had a soundproof addition; grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

I would have liked more options for breakfast, especially as vegan options were very limited and every day the offering was mainly for a full english breakfast. Nonetheless I'm thankful for that as well, the ladies there were very helpful and friendly. Even if there is an elevator, it stops at mid-floor (at least at the top), so someone should still climb up some stairs - though it was not a problem for me, but might be for someone with heavier bags. These are just nitpicks, nonetheless the place is 10/10.

I've stayed here a couple of times now, and it's a wee gem - very comfortable rooms in an unbeatable location, two minutes from Madame Tussaud's. My rooms have been small but well-appointed, with everything you need, and decent aircon too. The beds are lovely and firm. There are some nice little touches throughout the building (book exchange, ice machine, etc.). The bar looks very comfortable (though I didn't try it); the cooked breakfast was great. All in all, excellent value for money, especially for a short business trip.

Some of the fittings are a little tired, but no more than you'd expect in a busy London hotel (in fact rather less than you might expect given the price).

We were in the attic, cozy room within easy walking distance of James St for great restaurants and Oxford St. Tube stations nearby. Definitely don't bring your car into London! A La Carte Breakfast was great

The lifts go to the 3rd floor and then you have to haul your bags up the narrow flight of stairs to the 4th floor so not good if you have any physical impairment. OK for us luckily

The room was more spacious than anticipated with more facilities than expected. Good shower ( always a plus ). Additional and comfortable furniture in room . Receptionist was very friendly and tried to help with suggestions for finding a florist . His suggestions were good, but the results weren't ( florist's fault , not his! ). Really good location.

More room and shelving for toiletries etc in bathroom.

We had a very nice stay! The room was comfortable, clean and elegant. The staff was very nice, and check-in / check-out was simple and quick. Breakfast is good. The hotel is located close to many coffee places, restaurants, and shops, and it's easy to get to many of London's highlights from there. Very close to an underground station and to buses. Highly recommended!

A warm welcome by the receptionist, helpful in managing tourist issues. Great english breakfast. Nice and cosy Interieur. Old, but ok. It's a typical London house with steep and narrow staircases if you are into that. I love the authentic look and feel.

My room was probably the smallest they had. But to be honest it's exactly as you see it on their website. Even there is nearly no space they made best out of it. I never felt hemmed. The receptionist told me if I book earlier next time they give me better one, so they know it's not their best room. But you get what you see and pay for of course. It smelled musty the first day, but after I told that the receptionist, the next day it was better. But I think the room has some issues with humidity coming in. Nothing serious, but you have to know, if you dislike that. In general cleanliness could be better.
