We liked how friendly the young man was who checked us in. The room was lovely and clean. The pub under the hotel is great and food was lovely.

The staff that served us with breakfast seemed a bit lacking in smiles and customer service.

Hidden gem, the building has a lot of historic charm, Nicely decorated. The staff are friendly, The King room, we stayed in as a family was very nice, and reasonably clean. Considering the fast turn around in between guests, The bed was extremely comfortable.. I slept very well. Breakfast was great too. We had Full English & Eggs Benedict. (My son (13) liked the coffee provided in the room so much he wants me to go online, to see if we can get hold of some for at home. :D) The central location was ideal for shopping and walking distance from the AO Arena. There was a couple of loud passers by out side in the night, and few dark narrow roads, but that's to be expected in a busy city, that's built up around it & the view of the multi storey carpark out of the window is beyond the hotel's control. With the net curtain closed you'd never know it was out there. Will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you very much, Abel Heyward staff.

As we used the hotel as a base before and after a concert, we just needed somewhere safe warm, dry and comfortable to spend the night, before catching the train home. Glad to say, we found that at Abel Heyward hotel. we didn't have any issues at all..

Very polite, kind and professional people run this Hotel - From arrival to leaving, everything was perfect! We were greeted warmly, and were given directions to where we can eat and drink, much appreciated. The room was really nicely laid out. Quiet also. Nice King size bed, comfortable night's rest. Very nice shower, good pressure and temperature was consistent. If we asked for additional things like another towel, it was given promptly, they were nice and soft by the way. The bar was really nice, good ales, the food which was recommended by a staff member was very tasty and fulfilling. Good seating area also. It's very close to Arndale Shopping Centre and also to pubs and restaurants in multiple directions. Thank you again for an excellent time staying at your Boutique Hotel.

I really liked this hotel. It is in a lovely characterful Victorian building with a lively bar downstairs, and my room (though a little small) was still very comfortable and cheery with a nice bed and great decor . The bathroom too was very well furnished and modern. The room is well double glazed so the street noise isn't intrusive (although the hotel isn't by any busy roads) and I had a really good night's sleep. They supply free bottles of water and also tea/coffee which is good. Breakfast wasn't included but was very good value and really tasty. All in all this is a great hotel, which was very good value for money and I would very highly recommend it.

All was great!

Great location for the Armadale centre, the Christmas markets and the AO arena. We loved that we could have a first and last drink in the pub downstairs. Toiletries and tea and coffee provided were really good. As well as iron, hairdryer etc.

The room was a tad dated…we were given the largest room with a wet room which was good but there was a bit of black mold in the bathroom and the most disappointing thing was that there was no remote control for the tv ….you couldn’t switch it on at all. The staff were very busy in the pub so we didn’t mither. We did mention it when leaving and he was surprised the cleaner hadn’t reported it. We didn’t want to complain as such but he needed to know we hadn’t got it! We were however very comfy here.

We returned to the Abel Heywood (again!) because of the friendly, helpful staff, and we weren't disappointed. The service is as exceptional as ever. The breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is perfectly situated close to the Arndale Centre and 10 minutes' taxi from Piccadilly Station. We have booked to stay again in January.

If only they had a car park! The one they recommend is a 5 minute walk but to drive there from the hotel (to drop off luggage or guests) would take 20 minutes because of the one-way system. We chose to go by train but especially during Christmas Market season this is a very stressful experience!

The room was spacious and clean, there was complimentary water/tea/coffee, and there was a bathtub and a rain shower in the bathroom. We stayed for two nights, and on the second day while we were out, the bed was made and more bottles with water were added to our room, even though we didn't ask so that was very cute. Staff was very nice and helpful, they fixed our sink that wasn't functioning properly with no problem. Comfortable bed and pillows. Great location. And it's nice that they have a pub downstairs to go and grab a drink at the end of the day.

My only problem was that the kettle was quite grotty inside, I was thinking about drinking some tea but then I looked inside the kettle and I didn't want tea anymore.

Best hotel I’ve stayed in for a long time. This has everything you need. Excellent soundproofing, Hypnos beds, fully equipped bathroom, sofa, large TV. The pictures look like it’s a pub but the hotel is behind it. Beautifully appointed rooms but I was told they are being refurbished in January 2025 so expect even better things then. Breakfasts amazing. Good pub food in the day/evening. Complimentary bottled water, and tea/coffee. More available whenever needed. Staff so friendly and helpful. Super comfortable and individual air conditioning that you can actually control yourself instead of being centrally controlled as larger chains have. Super soft towels and bed linen and immaculately clean. Central location but limited views as in a highly built up area but only a three storey building. That was not a big issue for me as I don’t expect views in a big city, a comfortable room and quiet nights sleep is more important I think! I also felt very safe as a lone female traveller, all the doors in and out of the hotel including the lifts were locked and key card operated. I Would highly recommend and I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Everything was perfect, the British charm of the pub and the rooms, the sincere kindness of the staff always checking on us to make sure all was fine, good quality food at a reasonable price. We dined twice and two breakfasts included. Excellent position 10 minutes walk from the center, if travelling by car a multi store car parking just across the road ( quite expensive but a life saver because vary few public bays). The pub has a lift, which is a true rarely for an old style inn. Modern touch fabulous large walking shower.

Only slight defect is the size of the rooms and the windows cannot be opened , so a slight claustrophobic effect. Compensated by a full functioning air conditioning, but would have preferred natural ventilation.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Staff were so friendly and helpful, our room was suitable for the one night we stayed with comfortable bed, clean and funky decor. The location was excellent for looking around the city centre, and also had some great restaurants all around it within walking distance. The actual hotel also had the pub and dining which was convenient if we had used it. Breakfast the following morning was served in the nice upstairs bar which was really pleasant and staff gave great service for our included breakfast.

Only downside was the room was a little tight for two overseas travellers with luggage!
