Convenient quiet location in the countryside a short drive from the Harford Park & Ride. The house has real character and is very clean and nicely furnished. There is plenty of space for parking. Along the drive in there is a very old tree in a circle of rocks, which apparently has calming properties if you touch it. Our deluxe double room was large, with a settee at the bottom of the comfortable bed, overlooking the lawn at the back, ideal for relaxation after a busy day sightseeing. There is also a swimming pool in a separate heated building in the grounds. Our hosts and their team really looked after us, they were extremely friendly. The full English breakfast was very good. We stayed 2 nights and would definitely return in the future without hesitation.
WiFi was erratic in our room unless held you held the phone up high. Not a problem as such as it worked elsewhere, but have given it a lesser score.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Mangreen has character. Don't book if you want a modern hotel, this is an old country home which has been converted to a hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable. Good choice at breakfast, which has to be ordered in advance. Rooms are spacious.
When we booked only room available was on the 2nd floor. Found stairs to this floor narrow and steep, so little tricky. 2 small tubes of shower gel in ensuite, we stayed for 4 nights so ran out as it was not renewed. Fortunately we had some with us. It is necessary to drive a little distance for an evening meal. However I knew the property was isolated as when I was a student in Norwich many years ago the family who lived at Mangreen offered accommodation for students. There is a Park and Ride very close by. However it doesn't operate in the evenings, last bus back from city centre is 5.30/6.00.

This period hotel feels Victorian/Edwardian. You start to relax as soon as you drive into the grounds and that sense of peace and tranquility only increases as you enter. I think there is a swimming pool which I didn't get a chance to use or to explore the peaceful and secluded grounds. The hotel is dog (and cat) friendly and Katerina is a warm and welcoming hostess and manager. The cooked breakfast is freshly made to order and it's hot and beautifully cooked and presented. I think the house has been used in the past for religious retreats and that sense of peace seems to imbue the building.
I had the smallest room but that was because I booked late and the other rooms were occupied but apart from it's size it was very clean and comfortable with a nice new en suite batroom with a shower, tea and coffee making facilities and a small flat screen TV. The establishment is basically just B&B but you can order and eat takeaways and drink. Katarina will even provide glasses.

The house is set in beautiful grounds. The ambience is relaxing and the room that we had was characterful and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was good quality and very tasty. The presentation of the breakfast tables was extremely good due to the great attention to detail.
On our second night, we were woken by drunken women at 1am. We are not aware of any signage asking people to be respectful of others if returning after the front door is locked at 22.30. Also, there was only one socket available in oir room. . This was used for mobiles, ipads and the kettle, which had to be placed on the floor by the TV. However, on the last morning when we were packing to leave, we discovered an extension lead in an unexplored drawer! Had we been told of its existence, it would have been very helpful.

Lovely hotel, off the beaten track so nicely tucked away. Great staff especially Katrina (who was fabulous inspite of her broken ankle) and Tracey who was so lovely. We had a warm greeting from start to end. A great breakfast each day and absolute value for money stay. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
Shower in our room, Willow, was very stiff and difficult to turn off. There was an extension lead that wasn't working in the room. Room would have benefitted with a small fridge and curtesy dressing gowns. Also think the hotel is missing a trick by not offering option of evening meals. This would be an asset, even if only offering a small menu.

Lovely en-suite room with towels and toiletries provided. Nice comfortable beds. pillows and linen. Great view of the gardens. The breakfast was included and the dining area were great - being able to bring the dog in was also a bonus. Lovely grounds to wander around and exercise our dog. Staff were very helpful and friendly - we were even given an escort to local pub from one of them, who had finished for the day and was leaving to go home. Our room was on the top floor (I had booked a twin) and the second flight of stairs up to it were extremely steep and narrow; I have recently developed some restriction to my mobility and I hadn’t checked before booking. When I made a joke of the hike up the stairs to a member of staff, they immediately offered to move us to a double room on the first floor. As we were only there for one night I declined the offer as trips up and down stairs would be minimal. This is a beautiful listed building so there are no ground floor rooms or lifts. If you struggle with steep stairs, ensure you requests a room on the 1st floor (this flight is not as steep and narrow and therefore much easier to climb). All in all we really enjoyed our stop over and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
Nothing to dislike for me, other than the very steep/narrow flight of stairs between 1st and 2nd floor.

Beautiful old building beautifully presented with period appropriate furniture and furnishings. Lovely welcome. Room was lovely, we were offered a free upgrade but we had chosen a room with a bath. The tea and coffee facilities in the room were great. Breakfast was lovely. The grounds were also lovely.
We had to book our breakfast for a specific time so that the cooked element would be ready. But the rest of the breakfast was cleared away before we had a chance to finish the cooked element. It was a good 20 minutes before the end of breakfast service. So felt we didn't have a complete breakfast experience. This hotel is pet friendly, but I am not keen on a dog in the breakfast room, but that is a personal peeve.

From the start we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful host who helped us with luggage from the car and up to the top floor. The room was warm and comfortable with everything we needed. Bathroom very clean and well appointed. The house itself is lovely and full of character. Breakfast was tasty, hot and plentiful and served by very pleasant staff. Although there is no restaurant there are pubs a short drive away which serve tasty and reasonably priced food. Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed for refurbishment so can't comment on that.
A towel rail in the bathroom would have been handy but that is the only very minor comment.

When we arrived, our reception by Tom could not have been friendlier. He even helped carry a large suitcase up to our room. The breakfasts were well cooked and the continental self-service were everything needed to set up for the day. The rooms were full, of character as was the reception area and main staircase. All that would be expected from a 'country house.' The rooms were comfortable and warm with plenty of character. Unfortunately we had an intrusion of wasps from an adjacent drain pipe into our room, but our room was changed to another with no fuss, and our bags transferred whilst we were out. Very well, handled by Jon. The house is run by a trust on a non-profit basis that supports very worthwhile causes. That alone makes a visit to Mangreen house a worthwhile venture.
The upper staircase to the upper floor rooms was narrow and steep. The drive has an unmade surface and was bumpy. (Easily fixed with some scalpings.) The garden has so much potential but has been maintained at the most basic level.

lovely old house, lots of character...big gardens, a pool as well...nice and warm, comfortable bed, plenty of parking space...10 mins to the city, but you will need a car...room we was in was rite at the top of the house, but it was warm and comfortable, en suite, was fine, very happy with the room...
my only criticism is the cooked breakfast....was very dry without baked beans...tinned tomatoes would have been good as well...but no beans??...I don't get it....apart from that it was nice..
