Lovely old building with beautiful and comfortable communal areas and room. From the moment we arrived the we were made to feel welcome and valued guests. Without exception all the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient but unobtrusive, and appeared to take pride in doing their job well. The hotel was spotlessly clean. There were real Xmas trees dotted around the hotel which gave it a lovely Xmas feel without being over the top. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. There was plenty of parking available behind the inn. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Great location for historic places such as Lavenham and the market town of Sudbury. Surrounded by countryside and small villages. Ideal for driving on the almost empty roads. Very comfortable bed and the room had character as part of the old inn, but modernised to a high standard. Very large bathroom with shower over the bath. Quiet at night. Good breakfast. Would recommend as a base for exploring the local area.
The bar area and most of the ground floor is mainly set out for dining, and busy during the evening, so if you are only having a drink there is the option of a smaller room at the back of the bar or an outside courtyard space.

Everything you would want for a couples or friends get away with great surroundings, food and drink. Great staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was awesome and staff were too
The food was exceptional but after spending a long travel and then a full working day I would have hoped for a more substantial meal. The ala carte only option needs to be more flexible. Not after the run of the mill flaming grill or premier inn microwave rubbish but a full plate would have topped this excellent stay off. Would have been happy to pay more for the option but if not would have ordered two plates full

The inn is a beautiful place and we loved the bare floors, open fireplace and how it has retained much of its old-world charm. Also, the room was lovely, as were the grounds, along with the fact that Bildeston itself is located within easy reach of many lovely places in Suffolk. I think the food deserves a mention too - very good indeed. Finally, I'd also like to comment on the professionalism and manners of the staff, all of whom conveyed appropriate respect and care towards us, which is something we really noticed and liked. Well done!
Not much actually. Um.......nope, it was all good!

We had a truly terrific weekend at The Crown Inn, Bildeston. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a wonderful ambience that set the tone for our stay. The inn combines charm and comfort effortlessly, making it an ideal escape. The staff were super thoughtful, friendly, and professional, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly welcome and well-cared-for. The food was nothing short of fabulous. Each meal was a delightful experience, showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients and culinary expertise. The flavours and presentation were exceptional, making dining at The Crown Inn a highlight of our stay. We will undoubtedly be back to enjoy more of this delightful inn.

Room was large and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was great. Parking was easy and free. Staff were very helpful, especially George who was brilliant. Lift was useful as we had heavy cases.
Bar area was small, drinks were expensive. The room was over £200 per night which is on the high side. It's in the middle of no-where so not many local attractions. Not good system for coming in late at night. Need to ring a number on the door and someone lets you in, except in our case the person didnt come down and we had to shout and another guest was kind enough to let us in.

I regularly review and stay at hotels scoring over 8.5, the rooms here are very nice, I had an option to choose my room which was a nice touch by the receptionist. I changed rooms from classic because I prefer a larger room but had paid for executive via booking anyway. The room I had was lovely and the bathroom had a separate shower and bath which suits as I like a bath and the other half likes a shower. The beds comfortable and cotton sheets , warm and woody , open fires, extensive wine list, lovely friendly village everyone says hello!
The hotel needs to be mindful that some of the rooms have small windows or lack light so light decor is needed for these rooms. Regular maintenance of painted furniture and caulking in bathrooms to keep high standards. Unfortunately the menu and food could be improved, personally I like good quality pub food (pie and mash, good selection of veg, chicken on the menu). It is a shame many pubs/hotels have gone almost a La carte and try too hard but fail when really a simple traditional menu of high standard can be achieved. Loved the home cooked chips though as many leave the skin on which is just lazy! They need a selection of breads not just sour dough for breakfast.

Breakfast was good, but I could have done without the intrusive music drifting in from the courtyard. The room was well equipped and very comfortable, although some biscuits would have been nice.
The room overlooked the courtyard, meaning that, due to the low windows in both the bathroom and the bedroom, privacy was an issue - I am not sure that anything can be done about that. The upside was that it was quiet at night and early in the morning with no intrusive traffic,

Bildeston is a quaint little English village and gives off that "Cotswolds" vibe and close enough to Hadleigh and Ipswich for site seeing. The inn was great and breakfast was superb. Ever had scrambled eggs done oh so nicely, and not like those dry rubbery ones you might get a Holiday inn breakfast buffet? I think even Gordon Ramsey would approve ;) Ample parking for a visting family. Staff were friendly and helpful, and as a family we appreciated the big modern bathroom. Kids (ages 9 & 10) slept on two cots in the room, which was good for them. Thankfully for the daily renewal of spring and flat water as well.
Someone needs to post a sign pointing to the back lot for parking; kept missing it on the high street. (Not a biggie though!) . It was a little warm to be under a comforter though. We were used to have a seperate sheet between the mattress sheet and the comforter in Canada/US hotels, so we should have asked for a seperate sheet as well. (Again not a huge issue).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Crown. The Inn itself was fantastic and immaculate, but the true gem were the staff. We interacted frequently with George and Suraya(so) , and each interaction was as great as the last. Their professionalism and warmth both left a last impression on us. Thank you!
There isn't anything that we didn't like. Everything was great from our arrival to the day we departed.
