Hotel was a short walk from the main tourist route and shops. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spacious enough to contain a bath, with over-bath shower. The room had tea and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast was cold buffet but you could request cooked eggs and porage.

The room had an adjoining door to the neighbouring bedroom, and I could hear the neighbours talking which was disturbing. The property has been renovated recently so I don't see why they did not block up the inner doorway.

Very nice hotel with friendly & helpful staff. The room was on the small side, clean & functional, with a lovely view over The Forth. There were a few additional 'nice touches'... a cupboard on the landing which had extra milk, toilet rolls, sewing kits & other useful extras for your stay. You can request a flask of fresh milk rather than use the UHT milk supplied in your room. USB plugs in the bedroom. Free use of city guide books.

One day the bed was made, but bathroom not cleaned, told the staff & this got sorted. The only thing we thought was missing & would have liked is a box of tissues in the room.

Great location. Really clean. Nice toiletries in the room. Well equipped. Beautifully presented rooms. Quiet, despite being on a main road. Delicious coffee in the room. Really helpful and friendly staff. Bar was nice, but quiet and lacked a bit of atmosphere.

The breakfast wasn’t up to much. We had it on the first day as we thought it was included (it wasn’t - our mistake). No cooked items. Just cereal/ bread items to toast and some fruit. The pastries were tiny and nearly all gone and not all that fresh by the time we got there. We decided not to have it on the second day and went out for breakfast instead.

the hotel is fabulous, very clean and excellent service. We travel to Edinburgh a few times a year and having found this gem, we will always stay here if available.

initially we wanted to book for Friday 9 February but as Scotland were playing France in the six nations on 10th every hotel in Edinburgh was very very expensive but thats tourism for you!! this in the end didn't have any real impact on our trip but as i have no complaints or dislikes about the hotel it's my only issue. We will aim to stay here every time we are in Edinburgh as its quite simply the best hotel we have used in the capital!!

Very good value for money, great staff, very clean and comfortable. Our room exceeded expectations, great view over the Forth and nice touches with the Tunnocks tea cake and caramel wafer. The bar area was cosy and modern and competitively priced. Continental breakfast was good with plenty choice, tea/coffee, cereals, pastries, waffles and toast or bagels. All round a very pleasant experience and we will return and definitely recommend 28 York Place Hotel. Thank you!

The stairs but we knew beforehand that there was no lift so not really a problem!

Lovely hotel in a good location, immaculately clean, staff very nice and friendly, bar nice too. Room nicely decorated with tea, coffee, teacakes, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand cream, ear plugs, night eye masks, hair dryer, iron, ironing board and cooling fan. Staff offered to take luggage to the room. Great black out curtains. Great shower.

Room was too hot in Feb but a cooling fan was provided which was great. We were on the 1st floor so stairs not a problem, but wouldn't have liked a 2nd floor room.

From entering the hotel everything was absolutely amazing,the room was a great size with a very comfortable settee and everything you wanted Coffee machine, Dyson hair dryer, beautiful hand wash, shower gel and moisturiser They even supplied umbrellas which were very much appreciated considering what a wet weekend it was It was very central also 10 out of 10 on all counts

Bespoke accommodation in an historic building within easy walking distance to the rail station, shopping, dining, and most attractions in Edinburgh. Very friendly staff. The room was beautifully decorated with extra plush comfy beds, a Dyson hairdryer, tower fan provided for use on those warm/stuffy nights, and the most beautifully scented & locally made bathroom products.

I have zero complaints. It was perfect for our needs.

It is a lovely hotel, just at the back of the St James’s Quarter, the hotel was very secure as a key card was required for access. The location of this place is perfect for someone who wants to see the sights and be centrally located. Close to the bus stations and tram but walkable to Old Town, and all the major attractions in Edinburgh. Lots of shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The room was very clean and the shower was excellent. Loved the toiletries in the bathroom!

Being central the hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Edinburgh sights, castle and museums. The room at the rear of the property was quiet, very comfortable and with a breathtaking view over the city and the river Forth. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was continental only but there was a good choice of juice, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries and toast. There were plenty of good restaurants within easy walking distance for dinner.

No complaints. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
