The hotel was clean and updated. It is small and quiet and insulated well. I did not hear any noise from my floor or outside noise.

Some design flaws exists in the room. The bathroom sink is ungodly small. The toilet is mounted too close to the sink and it pins the toilet paper holder so that you can't access toilet paper on the roll. Lastly, their half shower door does not keep water in the shower. It gets all over the bathroom floor which is a real safety issue.

What a find this hotel was for us! The AKA Nomad is in an excellent location in the NOMAD neighbourhood (North of Madison Square Park) and is a nice, safe neighbourhood with few homeless people and fancy furniture stores scattered around. It is in a fantastic location - just around the corner from a subway station on the green line and a couple of blocks away from a subway on the yellow line. That said, it's also ideally located to walk to many attractions and is very close to the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, No. 1 Vanderbilt, The Chrysler Building, Madison Square Gardens, Flatiron building and Bryant Park, with Times Square about a 20 minute walk away too. Our room was spacious, with 2 comfortable double beds and plenty of shelving and drawers, albeit there was only a very small wardrobe to share between us. There was a fridge in our room, a kettle and a coffee machine, which we made use of every day. Finally, one of the best things about this hotel was the fabulous staff, who were endlessly cheerful and pleasant and who always had a smile on their faces. They were extremely helpful and friendly and recommended some great places for us to eat, shop and sightsee. It was a delight to make their acquaintance. Special mentions to Ian, Blake, TT and the Dutch Manager, JW : They were all fantastic people and a credit to the hotel.

The one downside was that our bathroom (shower room) was absolutely tiny and poorly designed. The toilet was so large that you couldn't sit on it straight as it was literally joined to the adjacent shower screen. You had to sit on it at an angle, which was very awkward. Why on earth the designers didn't install a smaller sink and smaller toilet to make things more practical, we'll never know. There was some decent shampoo, hair conditioner, shower gel and body lotion provided, so no need to take your own, unless you're very fussy.

Great staff, very friendly and so helpful.. we only had a couple of small issues, which were resolved so quickly… without any problem. Really wonderful staff. Location was amazing… calmer and quieter than all the uptown busy- ness.. but it was still close to everything and so easy to walk to so many things.. or to the subway right near by. Perfect location!!

My only comment and it is so small and not really anything but if there could be a bit more lighting in the room that would be good… but seriously this was nothing major and we kind of adjusted to it anyway.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff were exceptionally nice and friendly, always willing to help and make our experience enjoyable. The location is unbeatable—perfect for getting everywhere easily, which made exploring the city so convenient. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep after long days of sightseeing. Overall, a wonderful place to stay with all the right amenities, comfort, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The room size was quite small, making it feel a little cramped.

The location is perfect. The hotel staff is very friendly and willing to help with everything. The doorman Ian was extremely nice and helpful in anyway he could. I'll certainly stay there again.

The bed was very nice. But I think there should be an option of a firmer mattress. Then it would be perfect. My room was in front of housekeeping and in the first morning I was very upset with the door slamming at 6 AM. But I complained and for the next 7 nights, I heard no sound, which was wonderful. Nobody wants to be woken up at 6AM!

Very clean, design was logical and wonderful and everything in the room worked perfectly. Loved my balcony room and it was very quiet. The lighting in the room was exceptional and included adequate lighting for working at the table. I also want to comment on the staff who were all exceptional, especially Lea, who helped make my one day extension really east and seamless. Because I had to switch rooms, she went out of her way to get me into the new room right away. Two of the doormen, Blake and Christopher were very gracious and helpful as well, and went above and beyond to assist with bags, taxis, and directions. Housekeeping staff were also really effective and friendly. The location is perfect for a business traveler who needs a central location without the tourist crush. Overall an excellent experience and I plan to return regularly.

The location was great-it was easy to get around anywhere we needed to go. The room was about average size for your typical NYC hotel room. Loved the fact that there were doormen outside at all times while we were there. Made us feel safe and comfortable. The staff was amazing!

The view sucked, we saw the side of the next building and at night we could hear a lot of people outside screaming and stuff, wasn’t sure if there was a fight going on outside but it was annoying. I know the property was recently renovated and reopened as the current Aka Nomad, but there are aspects to the hotel that you can see haven’t really been updated. The a/c system was horrible, there was no fan in the bathroom… everytime we showered the whole room stayed humid, I would always wake up and my hair would frizz.

I liked the building, it was aesthetically pleasing. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, especially Ian. The hotel is in a good strategic location, felt like everything was nearby.

There is nothing to separate the bathroom and the room which sometimes causes the water to leak to the bedroom, I had to use a towel to avoid that.

AKA Nomad has exceeded our expectations! The hotel staff is great and always keen to help you with whatever you need. Super comfortable rooms, always clean, modern finishes that make you feel at home. The location is also amazing! Nomad/Midtown is close to the most common spots in NYC such as 5th Avenue, Bryant Park, nice restaurants, and even great supermarkets. We stayed over 7 days and loved every detail! We will definitely be coming back!!

The restaurant was more focused on quick bites rather than snacks/small meals and no-breakfast included (you would have to pay an additional fee) but this was not an issue for us, since we usually ate out most of the time.

The location is great, quiet neighborhood and centrally located. JW checked me in, he was extremely helpful. The terrace in my room was incredible, so nice to have a coffee there in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening.

Not much to dislike and I’m only nitpicking here: when housekeeping would take away my dirty dishes, they would only replace the glasses but not plates and silverware. If there was dish soap and sponge available, I would have done my own dishes. Otherwise, all was amazing.
