This is a great, no-nonsense place with friendly staff and crisp, clean white linen. The breakfast was outstanding - the best we had during our stay in the UK. It is highly commendable. Good pub for lunch or dinner just across the street and a bus stop a few yards up the road taking you right to the town centre. We will stay here again, if in town.
A bit more storage space in the showers will be great - if even an extra hook behind the door or shelf for one's clothing. Only one hook for a towel makes it unnecessary uncomfortable. Also, a small bedside shelf/folding table might be a great idea. For the rest, it is only accolades.

The staff were amazing, very helpful, and chatty. It was a great atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious, so much choice. We got a bus in to the city centre, so easy. It's a very central location for families or couples, lots to explore, we were even allowed to walk around the stable yard which my wife loved. The room was clean and tidy and plenty of space for us (family of 3). Shower was very hot which again we loved as many hotels we've stayed in only run luke warm water. All in all it was a fantastic getaway and we will be definitely staying again.
Probably say and it's really just very small- the room was a little cold, however we managed to crank up the heating and it was lovely and warm for the remainder of our stay 😀

Good location. Peaceful grounds outside. Friendly staff. Comfy bed and a good size. Good heater. Window opened nice and wide with grass outside (ground floor). Very clean. Good shower and nice soaps/hand location. Nice side mugs! Everything we needed for our short stay. Being able to bring our dogs was great too.
The TV was at a strange angle and not great for watching. Sound proofing not amazing in terms of people walking by outside but it really wasn’t a problem. Smelt of horses or drains (?)in the bathroom but again it wasn’t really a problem as it wasn’t that strong just noted that there was a smell. Definitely not a deal breaker.

The location was great. All the staff were fantastic, I felt welcomed, cared for and informed.
So I think this might honestly be a me thing. I booked a room in the annex with shared bathroom but it was not what I was expecting. The person in the room next door had the TV on really loud. Had a hacking cough and sounded like they were washing up in the sink. The bathroom was shared between 10 or more rooms, and there was no separation of men v women, which, if I'm honest, I kind of expected. Like I say, my issue, but I did feel unsafe as a single female. However, I asked for an upgrade to a room with a private bathroom, and it was handled nicely and was easy. Yes, I paid a bit more, but rightly so as it was a much bigger room. I can't thank the lady on reception enough she was soo lovely.

We really enjoyed our stay at stableside, it met our expectations in every way. The reviews were very positive, and true to what we experienced too. The staff were friendly, chatty and attentive. Breakfast was tasty with a wide range to choose from. On site free parking is an absolute bonus and unusual for York. A few snacks/drinks are available to buy from reception. The accommodation is about 2.5 miles from town, but is along a bus route. We drove into town but given the price of parking it would probably have been more sensible to have got the bus, or even the park and ride which is nearby too. Very close by there are 2 lovely pubs, we ate at the Cross keys and would recommend. There is also a chippy and Chinese takeaway opposite the entrance. The Chinese was closed during our stay but we had a chippy one night and it was nice/reasonably priced. There is a Tesco extra about a 2 mins drive too for any bits you might need. For those travelling with little ones, we had my 12 month old with us, stableside provided a cot which was helpful. The breakfast room also had highchairs, and staff were helpful with warming food up for him. Stableside allow dogs too for a small fee, which is hard to comeby sometimes. Although we were not travelling with our dogs this time, its nice to know they're welcome and did see a few dogs during our stay. For any keen runners, this is a fantastic location to stay for York parkrun! It is a 5/10 min walk from the start line which is the next street over (holiday Inn Road), there is no direct access to the start point from stableside. The accommodation is quirky in the sense that it is actually a stable yard too (no horses there during our stay unfortunately). In summary, we loved our stay. It is not 'luxury' but it is everything you need it to be done well. A simple clean room, with fresh linen and a clean modern en suite. Thanks for having us, we'll be back!
Nothing really, we were really pleased with our stay. The only thing worth noting is that cleaning/fresh towels/tea&coffees etc are not automatically done, but can be changed as often as you like when you ask.

The staff taff were amazing. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Location was good, a lovely 30 minute walk into York, although you could easily catch the bus if you didn't fancy walking or driving. Ample free parking. Bathroom clean with plenty of hot water.
Although the beds were reasonably comfy, they could do with updating and one had a big stain that was visible on the base. Some of the towels were stained which made them feel unclean. Broken blind which we couldn't open.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent and contributed to the booking being really good value for money. Free parking also a real bonus. We were able to use the buses and it cost us 0.. as I have a travel concession card and the drivers of number 4 bus said my granddaughters could travel free as they were with me.
The room we had (25) was not big enough for us. Whilst the bed was super king size we were tripping over our cases and one another. There were 3 of us and my 2 granddaughters are almost adult size now. It would work with 2 smaller children. I also didnt like having to move the kettle off the shelf provided and onto the floor to boil it... health and safety issue! Also phones had to be charged on the floor too. Next time we come I will book directly with Stableside rather than booking .com to be sure of getting the correct room.

When we arrived and shown to our room we were disappointed there was no kettle or coffee etc. in room and the tv remote was not working. Upon asking at reception it transpired the team that had been brought in to do house keeping had not made up the room as advised. This was rectified very quickly, however the tv would not work. As the hotel was fully booked the first night they asked if we would stay in this room, and use another watch tv for that night and then they would move us to another room the next day. This was done without any problems and they gave us a complimentary night for the inconvenience. Very quiet and relaxing. (Even though they had pride music festival about 100 yards away with a fair , we could hardly hear any sound from this and it was all went very quiet about 9pm. The staff were exceptional helpfully and polite. Breakfast was superb and freshly cooked and hot with a large selection of hot and cold food available. The entire place was exceptionally clean and tidy and very well presented. All within easy reach of the city centre. Day parking at no extra cost. The local pub was very close and served lovely hot meals with very friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

Room was clean with good bathroom facilities. Beds were.comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was really quiet - because of the hot weather we slept with window open both nights and hardly heard a sound. Nice location with good bus service (once we had figured it out). Good selection for breakfast A week before we stayed I saw that the Premier Inn price had dropped and was almost the same. We considered cancelling and going there as it was closer to town and we knew what it would be like. I'm so glad we didn't; this was a much better experience.
Minor quibbles would be room size is quite small for family. No shelves to put anything so living out of suitcase on the floor. Nowhere to hang towels (towel rail only has space for one towel), some hooks would be good to keep towels fresh to reuse. Website says good bus service but would be helpful to point out which stop was closest (Slingsby Grove or St Helens Road)/services to use (any going down Tadcaster Road but we ended up usually getting the number 4 bus which seemed most regular), as not the easiest to work out. But these are all small things and definitely would stay here again.

We stayed for the combined reason of parkrun tourism and university open day - 2 adults and 17 year old. The location for York parkrun is perfect, a 5 minute walk away and for York centre a 10 minute uber ride, but you could get the bus. The room was very clean and the bathroom super clean too with great shower. All the staff that we encountered were extremely friendly and very helpful in terms of requests and local knowledge. The breakfast offers a wide range of choice and the dining room is kept clean. We also walked to the local Fox and Roman and had a very reasonable pub meal. Overall, we felt this location offered us exactly what we wanted..a well located, quiet, clean and reasonably priced bed for the night for our visit.
