Situated in a mixed use, art deco building, Mint House is not your typical hotel. There are great facilities like a coffee shop, fresh food supermarket, laundromat, gym, etc. The rooms give off an apartment vibe, making one instantly feel at home. I booked a small studio which was pleasantly spacious, with a nice, comfortable bed, fridge, a selection of beverages, crockery, etc. The vinyl record player is a lovely touch and you can pick up a selection of vinyls from reception to take back to your room. The front desk staff are helpful & friendly. The hotel is keyless. Meaning you’re given a code to operate the elevators & access your room. Getting around is relatively easy: Located in the heart of the Financial District, Mint House is a short walk from many attractions like Wall Street, 9/11 Memorial & Trinity Church. There are also a number of Metro stations close by as well as a ferry port less than 10 minutes walk away. I boarded the ferry from Wall Street Pier for a quick trip to Brooklyn.

1. While the code access system is a good feature, it does get awkward when you’re in an elevator with strangers & you don’t want them to see the code you’re entering, because anyone with your code could potentially open your door. 2. Before arriving, I contacted the front desk to ask for the best way to get to Mint House from JFK. The person I spoke with advised that my best option was for them to book me a taxi for $135 as Uber would most likely charge me more. I wish I hadn’t believed this. It turns out that there are a flurry of yellow cabs at JFK and they’ll take you anywhere in the city for a flat fee of $70!!!! Needless to say, I felt scammed, so it did put a dampener on my arrival.

The apartment was spacious and had everything you need for a fantastic stay in Manhatten. Subway 2 minute walk, coffee shop and great restaurants all colocated in the building. The staff were exceptionally responsive and the room service great. This made our first trip to NYC so truly memorable. Thank you Mint House. THANKYOU

There was nothing not to like about Mint House. Nothing.

The space in the rooms is excellent, especially for New York. If you don't mind being in the financial district, the location is excellent as wll. A subway station is located dirctly beside the hotel, a supermarket in the building and lots of restaurants near by. To have a kitchen in the room is definitely a bonus.

The largest downside is, that the cleaning of the room is miserable. All they really do is make the bed and do the sink in the bathroom. We stayed one week and the floor never got vacuum-cleaned nor wiped. The bathtub/shower was not touched either. For a house like that, that's not acceptable. The price is quite high but hey, you're in New York.

Smart and modern situated in a building close to cafes, shops and restaurants with an excellent cafe right in the building and a very good market just outside. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The lay out of the apartment was slightly odd - it was very open plan so that the bed was basically in the kitchen!

It was a very pleasant stay in a great Art Deco skyscraper with two Michelin starred restaurants located in the building and one fantastic "roof top bar" on the top floor of the building (which to this day is the 26th tallest skyscraper in Manhattan). The location is also great, right next to Wall Street with the subway station entrance located across the street and a cafe and lunch restaurant/kitchen on the ground floor (for breakfast and lunches). The room was clean and spacious, with a coffee maker and record player + fridge as ammenities. The bathroom huge, with a bathtub and separate shower. Although as the hotel occupies only the first 6 floors of the building it was also quite dark, as not a lot of sunlight gets to the rooms in this part of town, as all the neighboring buildings are also very high - but that is new york! The staff was super helpful and nice (even if a bit weird ;-) but the good kind). Overall a very, very positive experience.

The door of our room was once left unlocked (ajar) by the cleaning staff... nothing went missing but overall slightly worrying... but I guess these things happen by accident and we got a late check out out of it, so...

What a great stay. It was a home away from home. Being with a family of 2 teenagers it was the best option for us. We could make our own food as the kitchen was a good size and had most things to cook a meal. Decoration was very stylish and dining table was big. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very large. In fact our appartment was much larger than most apartments in New York. We booked the One Bedroom Deluxe in order to have 2 sofa beds (one for each teenager) for the week. It cost a bit more than 2 hotel rooms, but was worth the money. In the evening we played cards or watched a movie together. There is an excellent supermarket right underneath the hotel. The staff was amazing; very friendly and helpful. Especially Robert helped us with an administrative issue and fixed it within the hour. He was great!

There were many cupboards in the appartment, so plenty of storage. It would have been handy to have a chest of drawers in the bedroom. Most cupboards were for hanging clothes. but not a big deal!

What a great experience! It's not cheap, we were lucky to be able to splurge for it this visit, but unlike hotels where you pay an arm and a leg just for location, here you get the great location plus amazing service and a really nice and well equipped apartment. The staff were so friendly and helped us even with random requests we had. The apartment was very clean, had everything we needed and was much bigger than we expected. Note that Booking deletes all their links when they send you the check in process which complicated things a bit, but we installed their app and check in was easy from there on. We really hope to be able to return!

Big room . Perfect for a family of 5! The king bed on one side of the room and the fold out coach on the other side behind a wall so provides privacy and kids don’t bother each other. Closet space and dresser to put things away. The corridor to the studio smells really good! You can hold shower head. Downstairs coffee shop and 2 restaurants. In same building around the corner excellent supermarket. 6 min walk to Leo’s Bagles. Get the bagel with butter egg cheese and bacon!

No designated parking available for unloading belongings. We came by car and had a lot of luggage. Had to park halfway on sidewalk. Very narrow street under construction .

We loved this accommodation! It had everything we needed and it’s was clean, quiet and in a great location. All the staff were super friendly and helpful! We would definitely return next time we visit NYC.

If I had to nitpick, I would just mention one tiny things. Our son slept on the sofa bed in the living area. So it would be good to have some under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. To provide task lighting which doesn’t illuminate the whole room. We had to wake him when we made our morning coffee and it wasn’t necessary. But that really is a small point. Everything was spot on otherwise.

The service one expects at 5* and doesn’t always get (prompt, pro and super friendly), comfort (spacious, very clean, quiet street, good soundproofing, good linen and towels and toiletries), convenient location (sights, waterfront - short walk to seaport and Staten Island ferry - subways) and amenities in building (cafe, market, eateries, NYC view from 64th floor bar), beautiful building and rooms with contemporary retro decor w quality materials, and no floor carpeting. Mint House gets a lot of things right. And did I say a special thanks to Robbie and T at the front of the house / reception? They are a joy to meet and greet every morning on top of impeccably helpful!

Rather what I wish would make it perfect. More natural light, which is impossible. Pine Street is a narrow street, the Financial District is tower buildings everywhere, Mint House is on floors 2-6, so even from floor 5 (where we stayed) and tall windows, we see only a very small bit of sky looking up.
