The tower public areas were traditional and very comfortable with cozy sitting spaces, a grand staircase and an amazing library room. Delightful Christmas decorations in all spaces. Good location and close to the city of Edinburg. Staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming but overloaded due to a wedding event. Excellent, plentiful breakfast.
Our room was located in an attic on the 3rd floor accessible only by stairs, which is annoying when you have to carry baggage by your own. The room & the toilet were very small but average with no fireplace, small TV not aligned to the bed and wares in the furnitures. However, the window was very small with limited view to the estate grounds due to a tower cone. In general, the room was not the one that is promoted in the pictures and probably the poorest room of the building. I am quite sure that other rooms are quite better so I strongly recomment to avoid room 311.

Staff were absolutely amazing each and everyone of them, while in restaurant a couple were so rude to the poor waitress that everyone there felt it, also shame on them if they happen to read this while leaving a negative review which wouldn't surprise us.Special mention has to go to Lynne ....you were amazing to us all and I hope that the owners of Carberry Tower appreciate what a gem you are.

Breakfast was top quality with a good range of options to choose from. The room was cosy and comfortable - we were in one of the lower priced Classic rooms, so I imagine the more expensive rooms would be even better. Unfortunately we didn't get chance to dine in the bistro due to other commitments, but the menu did look enticing.
The TV screen in our room was quite small, but we never watched it anyway, so wasn't an issue for us. The self-service breakfast system was a bit tricky to negotiate - the metal lids covering the hot food are a nice touch to keep the food warm, but it needs 3 hands to operate - one to lift off and hold the lid, one to hold your plate, and one to remove the food from the containers onto the plate. Luckily my partner and I were able to work as a team - I lifted off the lids and held one plate while she held the other plate and served the food onto both plates. Single guests dining alone may not be so fortunate!

A historical place to stay in. Common rooms, library and tea rooms are amazing. Feels like you live back in those days when they first built the place. Most of the staff was kind and helpful. Gardens and ground was beautiful. Had an early morning walk to the hills behind the hotel.
Despite we were told that we got a room upgrade to fit the cot, I guess the room was one of the smallest rooms in the mansion. Sink in the toilet had an absurd tap that doesn't fit in the tank at all and the sink was leaking water. Obviously, it is a historical place but room walls need painting. Yet again, it was an amazing place in overall.

The staff are so welcoming, friendly and helpful here - nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is delicious and very generous, and dinner in the Bistro is exceptional. The hotel is seeped in history (we visited because the Tower appears in our family ancestry), creating a wonderful atmosphere and the substantial grounds are beautiful. Without question, the highlight are the scones served for afternoon tea - we have tasted a lot, including those in top London establishments and these were by far the best, anywhere, ever!
Whilst comfortable, clean and warm, our room was a little on the small side and a fixed shower head is never ideal.

We loved the history and charm of this place. We were only there for one night but will definitely be back. We had a lovely welcome the minute we walked in, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful, some of the furniture (chair in the corner) could do with a clean and some of the throws and pillows could be a bit fresher but the bed itself was spotlessly clean and comfortable which was more important to me. We went down for a pre dinner drink and spoke to the bar tender who was very pleasant and gave us an interesting historical account of the hotel. The food was lovely and dinning room was beautifully lit and had a lovely atmosphere. All in all we will definitely return to this hotel.
Fresher scatter pillows on the bed and sofa. I little freshening up of the furniture in general in the room.

We stayed at Princess Margaret Suite, and it was an amazing room overlooking the garden. Breakfast was alright. Quite basic. But on one of the days, they let us choose from the menu and we had to place an order. So that's a little bit different and it was good! Dinner was good too. We ordered Fish & Chips and one thing we observed is that the portion of the Fish & Chips is not consistent. When we ordered it on our first night, we noticed the couple next to our table got a big portion of fish, while ours was small. On our last night stay, we ordered again and this time we got a big portion. :|
The reception (a young women) could improve on being friendlier. She was a bit abrupt and kind of aloof. While the two other ladies, I think one of them is Lyn (I couldn't remember the name of the other lady) these two are marvelous! Thank you for attending to our request so promptly and offering us the 'late' check out at 12 pm :)

This place is historic and beautiful you felt as if you’d stepped back in time. Our small room with comfortable bed had been Queen Elizabeths dressing room. The staff was super, dinner was very good, the bar was fun and breakfast was good. The grounds were beautiful, as were the other open rooms, like the library and there was an amazing organ in a dinning room. We would stay here again. Our room was clean and the shower, although small, had fantastic water pressure which you don’t usually see in Europe. we had a standard room and it was very small, If I returned I upgrade to a larger room. I saw a few of the suites and they were amazing.
This place although unique is much in need of an upgrade. The carpet on the stairs and in some of the hall ways was literally worn to the nub. Dirty and gross. I will cut them some slack since I think they were planning an upgrade and then Covid hit and they were probably closed for two years. I think if they could upgrade this the place would be a 10.

Beautiful old castle with lots of history and beautiful rooms like the library and music room and siting rooms where you was actually Aloud to sit and relax and spend time in. Nice big car park, very quite and lovely surroundings . Beautiful restaurant with lovely food freshly made especially the Sunday roast beef. Lovely big rooms, comfortable beds. Your own shower/ toilet. Lovely staff who made you feel very welcome and very helpful too, Definitely worth every penny very overwhelming and you just feel like a king while you’re staying there.

Me and my daughter came for an overnight stay and were delighted with the warm and friendly welcome we received. The mansion exceeded our expectations with beautiful interior and enchanting walks, steeped in history. The food, both at breakfast and dinner, was delicious and our room, comfortable and full of character. A special mention to Lyn, who went out of her way to help us with directions to the University for the following day. We could not of wished for anything more on our first trip to Scotland, thank you we will be back!!
Absolutely no complaints.
