Standard norwegian breakfast, staff willing to help, cozy fireplace, everything looks like it used to in the cabins in the 80s, not much hazzle to get to from the train station, just follow the gravel path along the lake for 10 min from the library outside the train/bus station. Great for kids who want to run around afte a dip at Vossabadet or fun in the snowy mountains above

Not the most modern rooms and not all sockets have power in them( just test them so you don't end up with a dead phone in the morning), but it is fine, and above what one should excpect for the price at Voss.

The breakfast is very good with lots of choice. Great coffee! Matilda at the front desk was thorough with all the necessary information, and very welcoming. The hostel accommodated my need to get breakfast as early as possible so I could catch the early train to Myrdal.

The shower is going to be a challenge for some folks: it's not a separate enclosure from the rest of the bathroom fixtures. Pro tip: lower the height of the adjustable shower head, and only use the water to briefly wet down before lathering and for rinsing. If you shower like an American (I can say this, I'm American) you're going to have a flood on your hands.

This hostel is very cozy with beautiful location right by the lake. Our favourite part was the breakfast which was delicious, had a good selection, and since the weather was good we could have it on a balcony with a lake view. The hostel also had everything else we needed - a kitchen with the most important supplies and it was even possible to rent a sauna (which we did not). We came to Voss to join an activity by Outdoors Norway and the hostel was very near the meeting point but also not far from the train station.

We wish the beds would have been a bit more comfortable. Also, although we were two people, we could only book a family room with bunk beds - we wish there was more options. However the price for the entire room was also very reasonable.

Great breakfast including options for vegan/gluten free and nice breakfast room with view of lake. Use of the lakeside sauna is possible for a fee but check the days/times as not always available and beware it is a steep walk down to the (rocky) beach to go in the water. Walkable from train station and back into town for restaurants etc.

The curtain was quite thin and let light through which seemed an oversight considering it is known for being a place with lots of light near the summer solstice. There were leaflets about a food orchard etc but that seemed to be wasteland when we were there - no problem, but sounded like a good idea and would have been cool to see it!

The room was perfect for a one night stay. The beds were comfortable and the location on the waters edge is beautiful. The included breakfast was also very tasty with lots of options.

The bathroom is very small, with no separate shower area (no doors or shower curtain) so water goes everywhere when you take a shower. The staff also weren't very friendly or informative when we checked in. They told us our room number and that was it. We had to ask where breakfast was, where the guest kitchen was, process for checking out etc.

The view towards the lake is wonderful and serene. You can enjoy the view also at breakfast, which was, by the way, very nice, varied, tasty. Coffee was also very good. Other than breakfast you can prepare your meal in a little kitchen and we ate it outside, at a picnic table, by the lake. The room.was very comfortable, big enough, beds with optimal softness/firmness. We slept very well. There was also a sauna - didn't use it because it was already booked. In the evening we could relax on the sofa in a cosy library and there was.also a TV to watch. Staff was very welcoming and friendly.

We have only seen the sign about taking the bed sheets outside of the room the moment we left the key at the reception for checkout, we went back to do it, but then we were in a hurry to go to the train station. Next time we know.

Incredible view of the lake fjord, the breakfast was very nice and a great selection of food! The staff were incredibly helpful and kind! A really comfortable stay and will be back again I'm sure if and when I'm in Europe again. This place (as well as Voss) was so great I decided to stay another night, especially being a pianist, the piano was a real treat!

The only slight downside was the water in the shower doesn't flow down into the shower basin, and so after the shower, water is everywhere and you need to take 3min to sweep it all in.

Kitchen is too small for the amount of rooms. On booking.com I couldn’t make a reservation for just one bed, only for a whole room with five beds just for myself. At the reception they told me I should have phoned them to get a single bed in a dormitory. Pity that I didn’t know that. According to the reception, booking.com didn’t give the accommodation the option for book a bed in a dormitory or a whole room …

Staff were amazing. Incredibly welcoming, gave us great advice on local hikes and were helpful with every request. The beds were really comfortable. Amazing location right next to the fjord so we could go for a swim in the morning. Close to the train station. Good breakfast and is included which is relatively rare for a hostel. Communal kitchen was always clean and had good facilities. Mixture of people from solo travelers, large groups and families so would suit anyone.

We were under the impression the sauna would be free but you have to pay. Not a big deal at all as everything else about the stay was great.

It is a good value choice for families or groups. 10 mins walk from the train station, gondola etc., and lovely lakefront views and benches to sit and read outside when the weather is nice. Staff were very friendly and we liked the breakfast, it was simple but appreciated the thoughtfulness of vegan offerings and free tea/coffee in the lobby area.

The kitchen is really small and just one family really can use it at a time, we decided not to use it and went to eat outside. With such a lovely location, it would make such a difference to paint the halls and rooms freshly, they look so tired unfortunately. The mattress are varied - some are okay and others are IKEA sponge which you roll to the middle of and difficult to sleep on. Last point is that the bunk beds are high and there is no ladder, it was really hard to get up and down using a few circle holes. It would be dangerous for little kids I think.
