This is a lovely hotel, in a great location. We walked there from Waterloo, and we walked to the surrounding areas easily, such as Theatre Land, Hyde Park, Soho etc., so no need for taxis or public transport. We booked an Executive Room, which was very large and spacious, large bathroom with a full-sized bath, nice sofa, comfy (but firm) bed, lovely matching furniture set, and a good Hospitality tray. Bathroom toiletries were lovely and well stocked. Nice clean, white bed linen and good supply of towels. Lovely view from our room (301), with a lift to the top floor. Breakfast was good, we had the continental buffet, which had a great selection of pastries, cheeses, meats, cereals, fruit, and toast/jams, coffee, tea and juice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again, and for the price, was good value for money for a London hotel.
The heating wasn't on yet, so it was a little chilly in the mornings, particularly in the tiled bathroom. This is more of an observation than a complaint, and is probably due to the time of the year and it not quite being time to switch on the central heating...we certainly weren't cold in bed or when getting ready to go out. The room was a little 'tired' in places but nothing I would complain about.

It's a great location, well maintained, clean and friendly. The staff were very helpful and the room generous. In essence, it delivers on the pictures and the promise so no complaints
Nothing really stands out. It seems to be either a converted grand house, or an old hotel which makes it a feel a little dated, but for London accommodation, it's fine. If be worried if the weather was hot though as it has no air-conditioning

There was more to the continental breakfast than I had anticipated:) The location was great - within walking distance of Covent Garden and other central sights and easy to reach from the Tube - Holburn or Russell Square. When we first arrived a bit earlier than planned, the staff were very friendly in letting us drop off our bags before checking in.
The shower wasn't the best in our room, although it worked. There was a low buzzing noise (generator) early in the morning. This didn't wake me up, but once I was awake I constantly noticed it.

The location was great for what we wanted out of this trip, just a 5-min to the Russell Square tube on the Piccadilly line. The hotel staff were all very friendly & helpful, we were able to store our luggage both on day of check in & check out with no problem. The room (Executive) was spacious & had all of the amenities you would need. Free upgrade as well which was a lovely bonus as it was a birthday trip. The temperature was easily controlled through radiators, rather than an ac panel. There was absolutely no noise at night so had 2 very peaceful nights of sleep, we did overlook the back rather than the street but the street was very quiet at night also.
2 very small things- the bed was quite hard, probably the hardest I’ve slept in in a hotel. The shower/shower screen could do with being modernised.

Nice to store bags in advance and an early check in. Breakfast was very nice and lots of choice. Big room, comfortable bed and a big bathroom with a bath and shower. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Very close to Russell Square tube and the No14 bus stops outside the hotel.
Some areas of the hotel need some TLC such as stair carpet is coming away from the stairs on the LG level and the corridor down stairs is used as a storage area for boxes, hoovers and cleaning products. Both mornings we were woken up about 6.30 am by people talking very loudly outside our room in the corridor. I think this was the staff as they had a staff room close to our room which was LG07

The room was a good size and quite comfortable. We had a room that was below street level with windows and could see out onto the street (i.e. there was plenty of light and it did not feel below ground level). The bathroom was a good size and plenty of mirrors for getting ready including a full size mirror.
The only problem with the room is that it was a bit dated and the 2nd bed was actually a sofa bed which we didn't know until we got there- not ideal. The windows were old sash windows that when closed still let a draught in- this was close to 1 side of the bed and made it quite cold until the heating built up.

Excellent service, very polite and professional made us feel very welcome. Very nice hotel and a fairly short walk to the show we were attending and, from the station so no need for the underground. Plenty of activities near by, restaurants etc. The room a really good size, and for this type of hotel and in London the price was fairly good (very top end of my budget and more than I'd normally pay but, it was our wedding anniversary. Nice breakfast but only had it as included in the room price (too expensive otherwise for a breakfast £24)
The bath had sliding glass doors on it so that when using the shower no worry about water however, if you struggle a bit to get into a batch this makes it that little bit harder and, there's no handrail. Obviously not an issue if you are fit and agile but, if you have mobility issues you might struggle

Ideally situated to explore only being a 10 minute walk from Covent Garden. Good sized rooms with comfortable bed. Super friendly staff willing to help at all times.
On check in we were told we were being moved to the Portland next door. This was the first we knew about the change to our booking. By way of apology we received a complimentary full English breakfast which was lovely. This review therefore relates to Portland not Clarendon. Although the property was very clean it was let down by the tired appearance and would benefit from a refurbishment.

room was tidy and clean. a surprisingly quiet location, could even have the window open at night. A little old fashioned, but tidy and had all you need for a comfortable nights stay. The breakfast had limited choices, but was cooked fine and did the job.
Staff were very slow in booking in and we had to go through everything twice (left bags at desk in the morning pre getting into room). Also there was some confusion over what breakfast we had paid for on booking.com. Usual expense for a London room, would have been half the price anywhere else - but its what it is.
