We liked everything, from the friendly and helpful people on the door and in reception, through the excellent position (walkable to everything on our 'must see' and 'must eat' list but also near transport links) and the 'guest room' with free, excellent, coffee, imaginative decor and furniture, even to the view from my second floor front room - I enjoyed seeing people going to work through the foyer of a skyscraper!!! It's hard to think what could have been better. It didn't matter at all that our rooms weren't close together - it is a small hotel, the lift worked well.

The only reason for the slightly-less-than-excellent scores above was that while my room was absolutely fantastic, my son's was very small indeed, at the back of the hotel and almost without a window. HOWEVER, I have to say that he was perfectly satisfied with it, I'm only giving a marginally lower score because I suspect many people would not be.

Friendly and efficient staff in this small hotel tucked discretely in the theater district. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe since there is a 24/7 security guard and receptionist in the small entry lobby. Room was clean and quiet with fridge and more amenities than expected. Updated bathroom with great shower. Easy transport links. All manner of restaurants and take-out food nearby. 24-hour free coffee and tea in second-floor lounge. Contract with well-known restaurant across the street for a prix fixe continental breakfast.

Nothing to complain about! Would stay again! Ok, Room decor was a little dark for me, but recently redecorated and in good, modern taste.

- outdoor porch had a large puddle - sink stopper was closed at first so sink didn't drain till i found away to p ry up - we were told to call the desk if needed anything but when i did several times due to the sink drainage thee was no answer - in the AM we did get thorugh abut something else bliinds on the left side of the room need to be replaced - wneh we tired to life t them, they seemed to break

Moderne Hotel was Excellent. Some Staff Members were more welcoming than others, and unfortunately, there were no facilities to use, such as a lounge to purchase drinks and snacks. The room was perfect and the bed was extremely comfortable. Though the TV was put in an awkward spot, facing the front door, we had a pleasant experience. The room was very clean; there was no dust, bugs, or spots to be found. The cost was a little pricey, but the Location and access to the train stations were worth the $175+ a night.

The property is in a good location; close to the theatre district. It is a clean boutique property. The male hotel staff were always pleasant and friendly.

When I requested transportation to the airport, I wasn’t asked if I wanted a cab or a car service. I ended up with an executive type SUV. It cost $100 to LGA. Now I know to be specific! The female staff rarely greeted us.

the location is amazing for food, shopping and theater

our room was very warm. we couldn’t get the temp to go down. was actually able to open a window to find it wasn’t locked and didn’t have a lock. there was a fire escape running right past the window. When I told the front desk, I was told it didn’t really matter since our room didn’t face a street. I insisted it be fixed and the air to be fixed as well. upside. when we came back from dinner it was fixed and the window was locked. Also , small thing … but The description of the room said it had a full body mirror in it. To me that includes your legs and feet not just from the hips up. women want and need a full size mirror

We were very pleased with our room. It included a couch and king size bed. The extra space allowed for a more pleasant stay since we were there for 5 nights. The rain shower faucet was lovely and the amount of consistent hot water was welcome, since it was so cold outside. And the hotel location is excellent! Easy walk to several subway entrances; there's a Gastro Mart 5 minutes away; you're walking distance to Broadway theaters, Central Park and great food. The doormen and desk attendant were consistently helpful and pleasant.

It's not the hotels fault for the scaffolding outside, but we'd have preferred to keep the curtains open. We only used the 2nd floor lounge once. The decor inside is fun and cozy, but the coffee was not good. This is not a deal breaker, just offering constructive feedback.

Clean rooms Friendly staff Sound proof room - felt like it anyway Good working AC. Staff was attentive. Toilet was clogged and it was resolved within 10 mins after telling the staff. There’s a common room to chill out or have food, so even if your room is small (like most in NYC), you can chill there as it was very really occupied. Free pastries were offered at breakfast time & free coffee, tea and hot chocolate throughout the day. Water bottles given every day was also a nice touch 10 minutes walk from time square & 4 min walk from Subway. I really liked the location as it was close to everything but you’re just outside the main noise. Safe area.

The location was excellent. We got moved to the sister property Ameritania because the Moderne was overbooked Very nice room and hotel

Eventhough I booked the room weeks ago, received confirmation, paid in advance , paid the amenities fee and signed all paperwork at 2pm ( and left our luggage there) when we returned at 5 pm we were told that our reservation had been canceled and we were moved to the Ameritania 2 blocks away. Andy was very helpful and escorted us to the other hotel several blocks away and helped us bring our belongings. The staff at the Ameritania was very nice and accommodating with a nice note from the Hotel manager and complimentary cookies in our room.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom looked as.if it had been upgraded recently.

Room did not have any outlook. But from a positive viewpoint, it was quiet in a noisy city.
