Really good value for money. The staff were so helpful in organising anything and everything we needed. Organised a tour/elephant safari which was incredible. Really nice breakfasts. Also many thanks to Prabash, our great tuktuk driver and also drove us to kandy all really reasonable prices for Tuk and taxi! Would highly reccomend this place.

As in other reviews just to be aware of the 6pm curfew for safety reasons so you’re not trampled on by wild elephants! Quite noisy monkey on the roofs during the nights but nothing we didn’t expect when staying so close to nature in sigiriya. (Recommend ear plugs)

The property was exceptionally clean, which made me feel right at home. Everything was well-maintained, and the attention to detail in the rooms was impressive. Huge bathroom with heater and a comfortable bed. It’s also incredibly affordable, offering great value for the price. The breakfast was good, they gave me some coconut pancakes which was delicious enough and fruits. It was clear that the hosts put effort into ensuring guests had a pleasant start to their day. The staff was also accommodating and communicates well. If you’re looking for a clean, affordable, and welcoming place to stay with great food and outstanding service, this is the perfect choice!

Bhagi, the property manager went out of his way to ensure that my trip to Sigiriya ran smoothly. Not only did he help arrange transport to and from Sigiriya, he welcomed me on my arrival to Palitha Homestay and helped me get to and from Lion Rock and his recommended restaurant for dinner. Bhagi's hospitality is truly first class! The room itself was as described and well air-conditioned. I struggled a little with the hot water system, but got there in the end (just don't set your water pressure to max). Wi-Fi was strong and I was able to make several video calls and stream Netflix shows without issues! Bhagi mentioned there can be monkeys on the roof at night, so bring earplugs; with my earplugs in I couldn't hear much noise from outside at night. Breakfast consisted of an omelette, some toast, fruit, and tea. This is sufficient for me, but perhaps those accustomed to bigger breakfast spreads may need to consider this.

Our stay at Palitha Homestay was absolutely wonderful! The room was spotlessly clean and beautifully arranged, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious. The natural surroundings added to the charm, making it a serene and peaceful experience. It was the first hotel we stayed at during our trip to Sri Lanka, and we were genuinely impressed. A big thank you to Bhagy for his exceptional hospitality and kindness. The value for money here is outstanding, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area! Everything was just fine

Exceptional hosts who were very friendly and accommodating. They helped to arrange us transport to nearby attractions which are a short drive away (Sigiriya Rock 5 mins walk away) and onward transport to Kandy. Breakfast was delicious, and they would make us home cooked dinner on request which was also very nice. Rooms and bed were comfortable with AC, fan, kettle, fridge and hair dryer etc. Free filtered water available on site which is really nice too. In the middle of the jungle so surrounded by lots of plants and monkeys. Downside to this was there is a 6pm curfew due to wild elephants so must get tuk tuk if you want to head anywhere but wasn’t an issue for us!

Wonderful host family who cook delicious meals! Great location for getting to Sigirya Rock and other attractions. Host family very helpful with arranging tuk tuks and taxis. I enjoyed my stay a lot and would happily stay again.

The walls are a little thin and you can sometimes hear people in the next room as well as nature outside. This isn’t a bad thing (the jungle noises outside are part of the experience!) but just mentioning this so anyone who knows they are a light sleeper or sensitive to noise may want to bring ear plugs :)

the family that had made this homestay were very polite and soft-spoken. they kept reminding us about the situations that we may run in... like monkeys may make sounds in the roof or they could drop mangoes onto your head... so watch out!

there was a small centipede on the wall crawling, which I got rid of with some paper. It's somewhat expected in a house surrounded by jungle. sometimes the noise would be heard in the other room at night, as wall were thin, I guess. But I didn't have problem as I can sleep soundly even with loud noise in the background

The owner of the homestay contacted us on Booking.com when we made the booking and offered to organise a transfer from the International airport in Colombo. The transfer was very reasonable and he even booked 2 more transfers for us (from Sigiriya to Trincomalee and from Trincomalee to Kandy). The driver, Prabash, was excellent! Our bags were delayed in the airport and he waited for 2 hours outside until we got them. Prabash contacted me on WhatsApp the day before we flew with all the information I needed to find him in the airport. Both him, and the owner of the homestay were exceptional at communication. When we arrived from the airport, the owner organised a safari trip for us and the next day organised our tuk tuks for our hikes. Our Tuk Tuk driver was also Prabash which was fantastic as we felt so comfortable with him. The owner cooked us dinner the night we arrived which was lovely and breakfast the next morning was basic but very nice. The room was perfect, with a hot shower and wifi.

It's not a 5 star hotel but for the money it is absolutely fantastic and exceeded our expectations!

Breakfast is really good. The room is clean and providing all basic need even for hairdryer which I didn't expect in homestay. people are very supportive. My 2nd night was a bit annoyed by monkey noise but this is not a big issue when you choose to stay in touch with nature. Location also quite good and easy to reach.

As other people mentioned, the bath room structure take time to get dry after showering. But with the money we paid, this is very minor.

Best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka so far. About 20 minutes walk from the main attractions but tuktuk can easily be arranged by the owner for a small price. Also offer different excursions at a reasonable rate. Very friendly hosts and they do a great breakfast changing it everyday!! 100% would recommend. Also if you have the time there a lady slightly down the road with a little shop selling beautiful canvas posters and they’re so cheap, she’s so sweet so go support her!!
