Rooms clean, bed comfortable lovely staff.

Food quality has gone really down and over priced, never had a bad meal until our recent stay and they made the staff take off her service charge (which was optional anyway) when we complained. Spent £80 on three drinks, two starters which were supposed to charcuterie board but was just cheap Salami and 5 slices of pickled cucumber. A pizza and chips, salad and chips which were burnt on top. We feed back about the food and got complimentary breakfast which is a bonus but wasn't the point in feedback. Really gutted as had good food here previously. Pillows are too soft they gave us neck ache, just go down to nothing when lying one them.

Clean, extremely comfortable room, great breakfast, helpful staff and close to all amenities.

Got back from the theatre at 10:30. Fancied a wee night cap but the bar was closed.

The hilton was close to the city centre only took 5 mins to get there. The valet parking was good but £30 a night was expensive for the 3 nights. Was pleased to be able to open the window for fresh air.

We were in room 138 and each morning was woken to the bin lorries emptying the glass bins and so was noisy. Breakfast had a good variety, but we both found the English breakfast cold. It looked like the heat lights were on over the food but serving dishes cold, no heated plates to put food on.

Room was lovely albeit small and small window view of Castle Hill but was nice and clean and lovely and relaxing , Breakfast a great choice just lovely really enjoyed that , and nice and roomy restaurant the only thing I would say no hot plates for the breakfast so it went cold very quickly. We travelled by train so a bit of a walk but once there was a good location to the shops

no hot plates for breakfast and no cafetiere for the coffee so never as hot out of the machines. Also the price I thought for the room was over priced for what it was, being it was January and out of season and a small room.

Great central location. Easy check in and room was lovely. Beds comfy. The breakfast was great. Lots of veggie choices. Overall it was a nice place to stay and I would return.

The thing that let it down was when getting the car back from the car park. It was £5 more expensive than I was led to believe prior and it took over 30 minutes for them to retrieve the car with no explanation or apology. In the room the radiator made a constant loud hiss noise when it was on. ( it was middle of winter so needed to be on). In the bathroom the grab rail in the shower was in the way and easy to hit your arm off it several times. It sounds like if you stay on floor 1 above the function room you might get disturbed if there's a party on as we overheard one guest saying at checkout.

The food and restaurant staff. We had the inclusive menu (not very extensive) but the meals were very good. The Eton Mess desert. reasonably close to centre.

I chose Hilton because carparking was provided, but there was none available when we arrived: the car park was full. In this issue, I felt that the reception staff were quite unhelpful - effectively intimating it was my fault that no space was available; and told me I should have used Hilton Honours (we hadn't ever stayed in a Hilton before, so had never heard of it) They had no knowledge of alternative long stay carparking nearby, just directed me to the car park across the road (a shoppers carpark at £3.40 per hour for 24 hours! The rooms in the 30+ number range suffered badly from street noise: I wouldn't want one again. The inclusive evening meal menu was too limited (a lot of chicken; no fish)

The location is second to none, it's ideally located to reach the main attractions in York and every entertainment establishment you could want is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. My wife had her 46th birthday on Thursday 21st Nov and a nice meal in Rosa's Thai Restaurant, so yes we will be using. The Hilton York next summer.

Nothing more than the weather, it was a little cold, however the temperature of the Hotel and rooms was perfect and we had a wonderful sleep on very comfortable beds. The facilities in the room were spot on, everything we needed for a short stay. OH the full English breakfast was as they say to die for, excellent I even heard some American guests referring too the excellent breakfast, and they are fussy.

Location good, rooms comfortable. Bar good, breakfast excellent. All the staff are excellent, helpful and friendly, particularly the breakfast and bar staff. Sometimes the (helpful) reception staff were overwhelmed by the number of people arriving for a wedding that was taking place that day. It therefore took some time to check in.

No outside area to sit in. No loo brush in room ensuite toilets.....that's very bad. It doesn't cost much to put a toilet brush in the rooms and that should happen immediately. Also, that they make a £2 charge for borrowing an umbrella. Most hotels have umbrellas for patrons to use free of charge. The rooms were cleaned well, although sometimes this occurred extremely late in the day. One day I returned at three o'clock in the afternoon and my room had not yet been cleaned.

Room comfy and clean. Hotel in general very accessible. Minor gripe was bathroom size; you had to navigate around the door to get into bath/shower, which most people would not likely notice but we were working with a mobility issue. An accessible room was not available for us at the time of our trip and with our budget. The hotel staff however did everything they could to help and provided us with a step box to access the shower. It was very helpful.

Extractor fan in bathroom did not appear to work or if it did we could not find switch to operate. We stayed in a triple room and a third chair would have been useful.

Excellent central location and amazing staff. A great dinner menu and breakfast choice.

The room was noisy (148) as it was near the housekeeper’s office. That isn’t a complaint - just an observation as the door was opening and closing all day. The room was hot - no aircon. There was a fan in the wardrobe I did not notice till we left! Even with the window open all day and night the temp was high. The pillows were very soft (too soft) and I didn’t sleep well due to the temp of the room. The rooms are dated decor wise for the price and could do with a refresh. The size of the room with 2 double beds is small and the bathroom tap overflowed onto the floor due to the design. Bathroom felt “basic” but clean. Again for the price I’d expect more.
