San Francisco has some rougher areas (affordable housing and drug crisis, very sad) so we're aware that it's not a hotel's fault if even the 'touristy' areas have rough edges. Citizen M did a great job of providing security that didn't feel militarized and unpleasant for that aspect. The overall facilities were so impressive. Style and substance. Huge, colorful murals, bookshelves with interesting coffee table books, shelves with funky sculptures; it's a feast for the senses. But the staff was helpful and kind, rooms were super efficient (we knew they were small but they were very well appointed!) and the LIGHTING SCHEME WAS EVERYTHING! My husband and I said we probably got the best night's sleep of our lives! Clean as anything, had all amenities you could want, can stream your own shows, comfortable beds. We will DEFINITELY only be using Citizen M whenever we're back in the Bay!

Not so much the hotels problem its just San Francisco's management needs to be flushed into the bay with all the bad decisions they made. Loved and worked in the city for 30 years... best city in the would but needs the reset button pushed

San Francisco has lost its way and everyone has left. Its going to be a minute to ger back on its feet again.

Very modern, fun, hip hotel. Tiny rooms, perfect for one person if traveling solo. It might be okay for a couple that really liked each other but wouldn't accommodate large luggage for one, let alone for two people. I'm a light packer so no issues with me. If you can get the room discounted on special, it's a good value. The location is great and the staff are very nice.

No coffee maker in the rooms or in the lobby. You need to purchase coffee in the morning at the bar. Free coffee is pretty standard at a hotel, so they missed the mark on this one.

Walking distance to buses ( we road bus to/from Presidio, easy walk from/to Amtrak pickup spot, short walk to Embarcadero. Super quiet hotel. Liked the security staff on duty and the entrance and security inside hotel (needed key to access room floors.

Breakfast is a winner. Central location, quiet rooms. Lobby is great for semi-casual business meetings. The open patio and gym make your business travel easier.

The room may be stuffy. A/C not enough for air circulation. If you can, take a smaller bag.

Didn't feel that safe on the street at night due to the number of street sleepers/vagrants

The hotel location, room amenities, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast options. Staff was helpful and attentive. Check-in and check-out is quick and efficient. The room, although small in size, has very clever storage options under the bed and we didn't feel cramped in any way. The restaurant has excellent options for light meals and the decoration is lively and cheerful.

The housekeeping was a bit confusing. We can select, in the tablet, in which days we wish the room to be serviced and if we cancel one of the days, the hotel donates 3$ to charity, which is a nice gesture. We did so, for one of the days, but we felt like the room was not serviced for the whole 5 day stay (only change of towels and superficial cleanup, no vacuum).

The location was the best! 2mins away from Powell Station, which is the hub for Muni, BART & cable car. Highly suggest you get the day-passes, which by Powell Station. If you are from Asia, you won't complain that the room is small as we are used to being in small apartments. Love how you are in control of all appliances in the room with just one iPad, even my mom knows how to use it. Chromecast was the best entertainment, you are not stuck with the boring TV channels and not to mention the shower lights, so fun to change it every night!!! Staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful, even just for chatting they're all for it. We bought take-out and ate at the lounge, was GREAT! The decors are fun, bar is available. I would definitely stay here again if I come to San Fran again <3

Nothing much to complain except for street noises but that's unavoidable and not the hotel's fault.

everything. it was in great location. lovely room although it was not very big but had everything I needed to stay comfortably. your ability to control your room light, temperature, colour etc by ipad was empowering and make the stay great. it felt very safe as they had security guard and you would not be able to take the lift to your floor with your key, staff were friendly and helpful.

We really liked it, the room was very clean and very accessible and very comfortable.

What we didn't like was the man who didn't want to help us and said no because of the ID he was carrying, he insisted that I show him the passport. We were celebrating our anniversary and he almost gave us a hard time. We felt discrimination on his part but thanks to the lady who was there, very kind. She was the one who helped us and took good care of us and resolved our check-in. I don't remember her name. The lady was tall, with lots of braids and glasses. This was July 5th, our check in was at 2 p.m. I will give it 5 stars and thanks to it we would consider returning again.
