Room was clean and modern, surroundings were very peaceful.
Be mindful that the road becomes a gravel road for a short while on the way to here! We had a 4WD so it was fine, but good to know in advance.

Harold is a wonderful host, so warm and friendly and clearly dedicated to proper hospitality and his guesthouse is so comfortable, clean and cosy. The beds were really comfortable and we slept very well. There is tea and coffee in the rooms and the shared bathroom is modern and clean with a very powerful shower. Harold let us use the main kitchen to cook on our first night and it had all utensils we needed. We booked a room with private bathroom for our second night and it turned out to have a small, well stocked kitchen and small table with chairs where we cooked and ate dinner, it felt more like a small apartment than guesthouse room. The breakfast was also delicious both days. Harold advised us on where to go outside the house for the best chance of seeing the northern lights and we did see them! We would gladly have stayed here for our entire trip if we hadn't planned to travel south. This was the best guesthouse I've stayed in anywhere in Europe and was fantastic value for money. Harold sorry we didn't get to see you when we were leaving to say goodbye, we'll be back if we're ever in the area again.

Had an amazing stay, beyond exceeded expectations! Was in an ideal location to be able to access all the sights and activities we planned, with each being a short drive away. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of choices, and the use of the kitchen in our own time was extremely convenient. The owner was so friendly and helped us out with recommendations to make the most of our trip and even helped us to see the northern lights. Overall amazing value for money and would highly recommend!

The guesthouse is lovely, and so is the host. You can tell that thought has been given to small details, which guests can enjoy. The breakfast was quite good and overall a pleasant experience for us.
The shared bathroom was small and had no ventilation, other guests also had the same schedule as us, so we had to wait to shower. The room is quite small, so hard to manage your belongings. The room door closes very stiffly (but this is common in other places in Iceland as well).

I was a bit concerned about the nature of the shared facilities, as this isn't normally my preferred style of accommodations. However, everything was lovely and as pleasant as could be given the "shared" factor. The guesthouse was very clean. The rooms appeared to be recently updated, and I would not be surprised if soundproof materials were incorporated because I didn't notice any noise from the other guests at all. The shared bathroom stayed clean, which is both a testament to the property owner and respectful guests (it is requested in the welcome message that you respect other guests by refraining from loud noises and music, and I really appreciate this). And yes, you are asked to remove your shoes when you enter the guesthouse. This is common in Iceland, and it helps to keep the facilities clean. Our room was smaller than what we are used to, but this seems to be the case throughout most of the country, as that's just kind of "the way it is" there, and therefore it shouldn't be a negative about the guesthouse. The shared kitchen area more than made up for that fact, as it was modern and well-stocked with all sorts of appliances. The self-serve coffee bar was a lovely amenity. Buffet (ish) style breakfast was equally as lovely, prepared by Haraldur himself. I appreciated the early breakfast start time. Some of the other breakfast offerings during our trip didn't start until 8am; a breakfast time earlier than that turned out to be very important to us, so thank you, Haraldur, for that! Location of the guesthouse was convenient during our Golden Circle tour and was a nice way to extend the tour into two days without having to spend a lot of time travelling back and forth to the city. That being said, the area is a bit remote. There are not a lot of options in terms of groceries, gas, and restaurants, so keep that in mind during your planning.
It's not that I didn't like it, but just an observation: the back yard area could use some TLC, but it didn't affect our stay because it was too cold to use it. Just keep in mind it doesn't currently look like the pictures.

We liked…everything! Haraldur was a wonderfully gracious host and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him. The beds were comfortable and the rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and dining area were spotless! Eating and hanging out in the solarium was fabulous - a great space. Haraldur has hosting down to a science and gives his guests what they need to have a wonderful stay. We cooked our dinners there and we had what we needed and loved the provided breakfast each morning as well.
I can’t think of anything that we didn’t enjoy.

Some people mention that it's a run down place. I totally disagree... the rough weather of the area may make it look a bit washed from the outside, but our room was lovely, the kitchenette in the room was nice, there was free tea and coffee. The breakfast included Icelandic specialties and it was great. The owner is a very kind man, he gave us recommendations about restaurants and we enjoyed the dinner there. Furthermore, he was also giving information about Icelandic food and places to see. The wifi was free of charge. Thank you very much!

Beautiful guesthouse in a quiet and peaceful location. Everything is sparkling clean and the house has so much natural light. The room was spacious and clean. The host, Haraldur is a wonderful man, such a pleasure meeting him and talking to him. He showed us around the house, explained everything, including the Icelandic breakfast. The breakfast included in the room rate is also very good, fresh and varied. There is good coffee, tea and how chocolate for guest to make. Also guest can use the kitchen to cook dinner for themselves. It was such a good experience to stay there, I totally recommend it.

The host was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. At breakfast, we had the opportunity to try some Icelandic snacks that he recommended. A true experience! Additionally, the drying rack in the bathroom was a lifesaver. After spending all day in the rain, we were able to start the next day with dry clothing and shoes. Overall, we stayed at various locations across the country. Nothing compared to this hidden gem placed beautifully behind the trees.
There was nothing I didn't like.

Magical little guesthouse nestled among the forest. Room was newly renovated. Lovely modern bathroom facilities. Warm powerful shower. Very warm and informative welcome from the host. Great breakfast included. We took a little walk down to the hot springs through the snowy forest and dipped our feet in the water. Loved everything about our stay. Was short but very memorable.
