The best thing about this hotel was the view. It can not be beat. We had a sweeping vista of the town, mountains, the pagoda and the tori gate. The room was very spacious, the food was amazing (if you like traditional Japanese fare), the staff was very helpful and their luggage delivery service can not be beat. We left our bags at the hotel after check out and explored the town, then we headed to the port and gave the hotel a call, less than 10 minutes later they drove our bags to us.

The facilities are a bit dated, specially the onsen. The outdoor bath was not very clean (I fault the other tourists for that one) but you could see hair and sunscreen oil floating on the water, which was a shame.

Beautiful view of the shrine from our room on the 4th floor. Room was very spacious and we had western style mattresses, which was a bit more comfortable for us. We had dinner and breakfast included, which was great! For breakfast, there was a choice between Japanese or Western. There were no options for dinner, just Japanese but they catered for my partner’s dietary restrictions and the food was great. We also enjoyed the private onsen, which you can reserve for 30 mins. The staff picked us up from the ferry terminal and brought our luggage back down to us in the afternoon so we could spend the morning wandering around. Great service, would definitely stay again.

The hotel is in an excellent location, quiet, amazing views, but within the town. The room was large by Japanese standards, with very comfortable futon beds. Bathroom was good. Staff were very kind and helpful. Food was outstanding and varied. Van shuttle from and to the ferry was prompt and welcome. We would definitely stay here again in Miyajima.

Only minor things. There was a very slight musty smell in the room, which I suppose can be normal in a very humid atmosphere. The hotel assessed a credit card payment fee upon check-out, which was the only place in Japan during our two week stay that did so. This was annoying, especially when the daily rate is so high.

We had a big gorgeous corner room on the 3rd floor with two big windows overlooking the sea and the O-torii, which was very spectacular. The staff was very friendly and the Japanese dinner they served in the evening was very nice and tasty. When you arrive on the island, you can leave your luggage in a locker and stroll through the town, visiting the Itsukushima shrine and other monuments before heading to the hotel. Once at the hotel you give your locker key and they will pick up your luggage by car. They can also collect you from the port after 3pm and they bring you to the port by car the day you are leaving.

The mattress we slept on was very hard and thin. I had the feeling I was literally sleeping on the floor. I was a disappointed by the outdoor bath. I thought it would be open and you could look at the sky, which we had experienced at other places, but it was completely closed, so I didn’t get the outdoor feeling.

We went for a room with a sea view and the view from our room was incredible - overlooking the Great Torii. The room itself was one of the nicest we've stayed in while in Japan. It has been recently renovated, so everything is modern, the shower is massive and has great features, and there is a fridge as well. The common spaces are definitely a bit dated, but we only used those spaces for dinner and breakfast. The staff was great, and we would definitely recommend this if you want a great stay in Miyajima!

As I mentioned above, the common spaces are a bit dated, but you don't spend much time in those spaces, so it didn't bother us.

Staff brought us from the ferry station to the front of the hotel where they welcomed us on the street, guided us into the structure and gently helped us fill some forms for our preference on dinner/lunch/breakfast both time wise and alimentary regime. The room was astonishing, over the top view and top notch bathroom with bathtub and shower encased in a soundproof part of the bathroom. Food service was amazing, everything was delicious and staff super nice and very friendly. The private bath also included with a reservation based on the other scheduled rooms.

A minor inconvenience was the road to reach the hotel, a bit difficult if you plan on going up and down to get to the city streets/beach/monuments.

We had the special guest room - wonderful view on the sea, the Tori and the mountains, lot of natural light & space, a bathtub in the room to take a hot bath (in addition to the private 30mn per room at the outdoor bath). Japanese dîner was delicious, the staff very professionnal, attentionate and caring all along our stay. The hôtel made sure to look for our luggages - either to collect them for us at the ferry pier when we arrived and to bring them back at the pier when taking our ferry to leave the Island - allowing us not to have to carry them and enjoy the walk and our day in the Island What a beautiful moment !

The staff were very helpful. The shuttle bus service was offered if you had luggage to pick up from the ferry. We just had backpacks so enjoyed a nice stroll along the water to the hotel (stairs at the end but only a few!). The dinner was great fresh seafood and breakfast was a choice of Japanese or western style. You can book the private onsen for half an hour on arrival which was very nice. There is also a public onsen and I was the only one there when I used it. Miyajima is an amazing place to explore. The views we had from the room were fantastic of the Torii gate if you get a sea view. This is a traditional style ryokan, so you will be sleeping on the floor. We knew this going in so it wasn’t a problem for us, but something to be aware of.

We just had the most fabulous stay at Jukeiso. We were so lucky to get a corner room with spectacular views, it was almost difficult to drag ourselves away from the room to explore the island. The room was a wonderful traditional room. We recorded a warm welcome with tea brought to our room. I enjoyed the private outdoor bath in the evening and my son said the bath in the room was very luxurious. The kaiseko dinner was lovely, not all to our western taste, but beautifully prepared and presented and a super opportunity to try foods we may not otherwise have had. The staff were really welcoming and helpful.

Leaving. I wish we’d had an extra night or two

The view is unbeatable, being able to see the Tori from the room was really special. The location was great for us because we like to be away from the hustle of the main pedestrian area. The hotel picked us up and dropped us off at the port, so we didn't have to struggle with our bags at all. I love Japanese style ryokan (and have stayed in a quite a few over the last decade), and this checked all the boxes (tatami, ofuro, kaiseki dinner etc.). It was my husbands first time in Japan and I wanted him to experience all this with me and he enjoyed it as much as I did :)
