Breakfast quality good and service excellent . Evening meals good but worth changing at least part of the menu every day even only if one item changed The staff were very attentive and welcoming . Excellent people , nothing too much trouble

If you choose porridge then it should be considered as an alternative to a cereal and not charged as an extra if you also have a cooked breakfast . Seems penny pinching and does not happen elsewhere Some minor Room 2 issues could be addressed - eg absence of hooks on doors for coats, mirror light not working, no shelves in bathroom or shower for toiletries, No glasses for water Worth installing an EV charging facility in the car park.

We liked the room, it was nicely decorated and dressed, the shower was great, the bed very comfy. There was a nice little lounge area for residents and two nice sitting areas to sit outside with a drink and look at the views. The dining room is full of character and the food absolutely delicious, the staff were attentive and very friendly. The pub is situated outside Grasmere village but it is an easy walk to the centre., overall we loved our stay and will be returning.

Although it didn't bother us, the Travellers Rest is on a busy road. To be fair, the traffic is at a minimum late evening and overnight and we slept well throughout our visit. Don't let this stop you from visiting what is a really great place,

I’m not often moved emotionally by a location, however the Travellers Rest really hit the spot for me! It was a long awaited catch up with my partner and we could not have found a better place, the staff are amazing, they genuinely make you feel so welcomed with a fantastic none judgemental attitude, we have found in the past being a male couple, some establishments act awkward or not very welcoming but not here, it was like coming home and being welcomed by family! The pub/restaurant is absolutely fantastic, could not fault the food, even though we arrived quite late on, they still accommodated us so we could have a good hearty meal! After our food, we where shown to the room (No3) what a beautiful, clean and comfortable room, I thought that we had been put in a much more expensive room but this is the standard that you can see they clearly strive for. Being out in the countryside, the hotel was amazingly quiet with just the occasional traffic noise, this did not bother us at all, we sleep with the window open so could not moan in the slightest, they have secondary glazing so I am confident that you would not hear the traffic noise! Breakfast was just superb, a great selection of cereals and drinks to get you started, the menu selection is also very good with plenty to choose from, we both had the full English breakfast, this set us both up for the day and a 6 hour walk! I would 110% come back here, especially knowing that they are dog friendly in certain rooms. If you do choose to stay here, I must suggest that you go outside when it’s dark and the bar has closed, the darkness and silence is almost spiritual, a genuinely perfect location! I hope to see the staff at The Traveller’s Rest very soon! Kindest Regards Joe & Ross

Just one nitpick, it’s not an issue and did not affect our stay in the slightest but the shower head in Room 3 could do with replacing or repairing, the chrome part of the shower head just felt as if it could come off at any point, apart from this, everything was just perfect!

Fantastic location, friendly and very helpful staff, very comfortable and clean property with lovely restaurant. Cosy but comfortable room for two people. Would definitely recommend to others and would book again without any hesitation.

The bedrooms overlooked the road and when windows were opened to let in fresh air it could be quite noisy at busy times during the daytime however did not cause much disturbance as we were out all day and was not a problem at night as the road was very quiet. Double glazed windows ensured minimal disturbance when windows were closed.

Everything was just perfect ! The room was lovely & the shower was the best we've used on a short break ! The TV was excellent as were the tea and coffee making facilities but the bed ? Wow so comfortable & the room temperature was just right ! Wi-Fi too was excellent so we were mega impressed ! The food was beautiful & plentiful & honestly I could have cried at how good the rice pudding was ! Just like my Grans from when I was a little boy ! Last but not least the staff were all incredibly nice & so kind & efficient ! I was actually quite taken away by how perfect our 1 night stay was & we will most certainly be back As will our little dog Bear who was made to feel so welcome & he got so much fuss ! Heartily recommend people to stay here the car park is big & it's a lovely walk from the inn into Grasmere ! One of the best places I have stayed in for a little break ! Wonderful wonderful place we all loved it !

Nothing at all ! It is a perfect little getaway place & there's not one thing I would change ! Perfect !!!

We loved our stay at this pub. We never stay in pubs so were a little apprehensive but it was lovely. Very friendly, helpful staff. The room was lovely, with a fab view. Very warm, and comfortable. The room was affordable, especially for the location - only a 1 mile wander into Grasmere - perfect! We've already recommended to friends and family, and will likely be back.

We really liked everything about our stay, however a couple of things: we thought the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner in the respect to rust on the towel rail. Also, more choice in the restaurant. Oh and the windows need cleaning - a lovely view but blocked by mucky windows.

We booked the travellers rest for the 2nd night of our stay for valentines. The location was gorgeous, surrounded by views. The hotel itself is cosy and full of charm inside and all the team who we encountered were super friendly. If you have a fur baby with you, this is an amazing choice. The bar and section section of the restaurant are dog friendly. As for the food, I cannot recommend enough.

To be expected with an old building, but the shower is a challenge for tall people as the ceilings are low and slanted. But again just an fyi as its to be expected.

2nd time staying here at it’s in convenient area for what we were doing. We love the traditional feel to the place & always friendly staff. The rooms are lovely. This time we stayed in a king double room that looked out to the front of the building and it was lovely & warm, and spacious enough for 2 people.

Nothing major to say. All we noticed was that there wasn’t any water facilities in the room, glassware or water itself. I would only recommend it adding in glass & jug of water, or a water station in the resident area when the staff finish for the evening.

Lovely location with about a 15-20 minutes walk to the centre of Grasmere. The room was cosy and the perfect size for my partner and myself. Really friendly staff, and very relaxed atmosphere. Added the breakfast option after we got there and so glad we did, if you have a sweet tooth try the pancakes! We also ate in the restaurant for dinner on the first night and the food was delicious. Thank you for a great stay! ❤️

We have stopped here a few times now . The staff are all really friendly and helpful. We've eaten breakfast and had dinner all meals are lovely home cooked dishes . Sunday lunch is fantastic

Sadly this time we stayed in room 10 and was disappointed with the room. This is a corner room open to the aliments and I can imagine it takes the battering from the weather conditions, hence the room had lots of mould. The windows frames were black and were covered in mould skirting board and bathroom sealing . The bed was comfy ,shower was great however the needs to be sorted
