The hotel is wonderful: super friendly and helpful staff everywhere, great location, very comfortable with lovely amenities. Our King room was lovely, but we also decided to upgrade our room to a junior suite, which was reasonable to do, and was a very nice room, with great space and views, super comfy bed, and lovely spacious bathroom. Breakfast at the hotel was busy, but very well catered, and there was a great selection of food available. The spa and pool areas were excellent as before. Also, they are super nice with dogs staying and very accommodating, which is most appreciated. Definitely my go-to luxury hotel in Edinburgh.

I lived in the hotel for three weeks. So I could figure out, what works well and what doesn’t. 1) the team at the front desk is incredibly friendly. Thanks them 2) Both restaurants are really good: BABA and AIZLE. Highly recommended 3) the location is convenient, everything is close to the hotel 4) nice pool and sauna, a pretty big gym (however a ceiling is too low) 5) many small details in the room: yoga mat, coffee set and ect

1) Cleaning. Some days they didn’t clean, some days didn’t it well. 2) I had issues with collecting a laundry 3 times. Nobody picked it up. So if you want to get a clean clothes you should bring it to reception by yourself 3) Shower is dripping instead of “flowing”. I hate it, because removing shampoo and soap takes ages

Everything about this place is exceptional, the location, the fact that everything is under the same roof, i.e. the pool, rooms, bar, restaurant... it's other worldly, everything is quality, the staff, the food, love the happy hour!, we love this place, love it...

The only tiny thing we didn't like was as we left the hotel, at the bottom of the steps as you enter the hotel, one of the guests was just finishing off a cigarette, which they just flicked onto the floor in front of us, this isn't the fault of the hotel, however, it's an offence and attracts an on the spot fine, it's not the image the hotel needs or Edinburgh in fact.

From the friendly, efficient and professional welcome to the short tour of the building for orientation (it's a wonderful rabbit warren of a place!), to the excellent breakfast selection, to the supremely comfortable and quiet room overlooking Charlotte Square, this hotel is much more than a hotel. It's a beautiful home from home, where you just happen to pay a bill at the end of your visit. I had room 226 directly overlooking Charlotte Square but somehow managing to cut out almost all noise from outside. Bed was comfy and cosy, bathroom very well equipped and decorated, my swim before breakfast was a great wake up. I'll definitely be back, just no idea when...

My only quibble is trying to find a quiet corner for a coffee and read my book, but the place has such a lovely atmosphere that this is not actually a problem, you simply soak up the vibe ;-)

Breakfast was excellent. Only grumble is that the artisanal ketchup and brown sauce didn't taste of ketchup and brown sauce. Would have preferred Heinz ketchup and HP sauce. Room was fine but too cold on arrival (19c) so had to rest to 21c for comfort.

Having a shower in the bath is understandable due to the lack of space, but the bath floor is very slippery and so providing a rubber mat would be a good idea. Also a wall mounted handle to grab on to would help ease the fear that I might slip. Frankly, I felt very nervous when showering and I'm in good physical shape, so these two suggestions would help a lot.

The hotel was in an excellent location close to all the sites I wanted to see and the shopping I wanted to do. The staff were very welcoming and respectful. They made me feel at home. I stayed in a single room on the second floor. It was lovely and very clean. I loved the bathroom so much I took pictures of the tiles so I can update my bathroom at home. Everything was perfect for my stay. The bed in the room was a single but it was very comfortable and the pillows were to die for! I slept like a baby! I can’t wait to visit Edinburgh again in the New Year and stay at the Kimpton Charlotte Square!

The bed in the single was small but it was comfortable and I really slept well. I’ve only put this down because normally, I sleep in a super king bed at home. I’m happily sleep in the single bed at the Kimpton Charlotte Square! In this case, size really doesn’t matter. Comfort won - hands down!

This is an excellent hotel, very unique and in a lovely location central to everything.

The breakfast was unbelievably poor and the service was confused and sloppy. This was in contrast to the rest of the hotel service which was excellent. We decided to stay an extra day as we were enjoying Edinburgh so much, but declined to have breakfast as it was so poor. The Kimpton really needs to improve this aspect, as it was dreadful, impacting on such a lovely hotel.

Beautiful hotel, lovely comfortable rooms with great touches such as snack box and freshly ground coffee. Very nice spa and spa treatments. The evening drink in the bar is a really lovely convivial touch and really does get people together. The reception staff are excellent and very friendly, guest services couldn't do enough for customers. Good breakfast too, so all in all would recommend.

Had to ask for room to be made up BUT it was rectified immediately and spare cups etc brought up etc until it was convenient for us for the room to be done.

Lovely clean public spaces. Bedroom was well appointed (but…). Food was great. Lovely staff.

The room was very expensive for what it was. £700 per night is a lot and while it was clean and comfortable, it was not good value (first world problems I know). A few little tweaks could make the place truly exceptional, for example, saw so many guests struggling up the stairs with bags when there were plenty of staff in reception.

The location of the hotel was perfect: a short walk from the train station and near to all the main shops and restaurants. We loved the pool and very much enjoyed being able to have a swim after a busy day travelling and shopping. We could also have booked treatments if we had wished. The staff at the hotel were exceptional and this is what really stood out. Everyone remembered us as we went in and out over the duration of our stay and they were all so polite and pleasant. Our room was beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable.

The breakfast could have had a better range of fresh pastries, fruit, bread etc and although there were 2 or 3 items that could be ordered from the kitchen (pancakes, porridge etc), it would have been nice to have a little more choice. The staff although very chatty and pleasant, were quite slow to clear away dirty plates and offer us more coffee - I think most of them were quite young and probably just need a little more training as we couldn’t fault them personally. The rooms looked out onto a brick wall and maybe this needs some paint or planting to make it more pleasing to the eye but having said this, we were only staying for 1 night and it wasn’t really a major issue.
