Great location, clean room, good wifi and nice personnel

My husband and I usually stay at the Aparthotel Basztowa (owned by Hotel Polonia) when we visit Kraków, but this time we decided to stay in the main hotel, expecting it to be an upgrade. Unfortunately, we found our room to be much smaller, and overall, the experience offered less value for money compared to the Aparthotel. The only real advantages of staying at Hotel Polonia were the convenience of an elevator and the option to have breakfast. The breakfast itself was decent, though there was consistently a line for the coffee machine.

Very noisy at night with trams frequently on the tracks

The location is ideal for exploring the area, with trams, buses, and trains within a very short walk. Nice cosy atmosphere with lovely nostalgic touches: great not to be in a sterile, chain hotel. Breakfast is plentiful and varied with proper scrambled eggs! Good coffee, too. Rooms are comfortable with good views. Bathrooms are clean and adequately equipped. Plenty of hot water. WiFi signal quite good and more than adequate for business use. Nice to be able to have a drink in the restaurant/bar in the evening, although the opening hours of this facility are quite restricted. Luggage storage for early arrivals and late departures.

Not a problem for us, but be aware that the hotel is on a tram route and so there is an amount of vibration and noise.

The location is really good. It's a short and pleasant walk to the main square, and onwards. We also enjoyed the breakfasts which were very varied and plentiful. One evening we dined at the hotel restaurant and had an excellent meal. We appreciated the style and ambience of the hotel as it's not easy to find nice places to stay that aren't ultra modern these days.

It's pretty noisy at night from all the trams outside which made our first night almost impossible to sleep. The second was better, probably because we were so tired from our day in Kraków. Personally, the mattress was too soft for us too.

Staff was extremely helpful. We arrived earlier, and our room wasn't ready, but the lady on the reception rang housekeeping to see if they could accommodate us in another room, which I thought was above and beyond. Both porters dealing with our language were lovely and very helpful too. The rooms are in this old style. You would feel like you are in a presidential suite for as little as 100 euros per night! Breakfast was amazing. I couldn't believe how lucky I was finding baked cheesecake in the breakfast bar ( that's me being Polish;). But my Irish boyfriend was happy, very happy with hot options too, and continental options were endless, and like a little fiesta 😀 location is just perfect 👌 near to main square and all the tourists attractions as well as train station to airport or if you want to explore other parts of my beautiful country 🥰 we definitely stay again!!!

It is bit noisy with trams going around

Location is very convenient. Old, simple hotel with all we needed for the trip. Spacious room to accommodate all three of us. Short walk to the old town, main station and multiple tram stations around made it very easy to look around the city.

The room can be noisy given it is an old building and the windows not being able to sufficiently block the noise of the trams running around the property from early in the morning till late at night. This might be problematic if you are a light sleeper. The room cleaning was not up to our expectations. Cleaning staffs left used coffee cups not washed, and we had to request shower gel to be refilled multiple times to get it eventually refilled the next day.

We loved the old traditional style of this historic hotel. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Thank you for allocating our room on the quiet side with a garden view, as requested. The hotel location was perfect in many ways…it’s just on the outside of the Old Town within a couple of minutes walk; the railway and bus stations are super-close with easy walking; a big tram stop is right outside the hotel. We never used the trams but walked everywhere to see all the sights of beautiful Kraków. We enjoyed the extensive breakfast selection. The staff kindly gave us a takeaway breakfast pack when we were being picked up for an early departure. A lovely hotel that we would stay at again.

Location had all we needed. Very typical European hotel. It was perfectly located within walking distance to the Old Town and the mass transit pick up area. The food at the restaurant was EXCELLENT ! Better than most of the others in the area.

As a typical European hotel it didn’t include things like soap and hand towels/washcloths. Since it was close to the mass transit, those that stayed on the street side experienced a lot of noise and the vibration from the train. I recommend the garden view, very peaceful and pleasant.

Entering this corner room took our breath away. It was simply magnificent, with windows on 3 sides. It had 2 separate sitting areas, and one in particular was a wonderful place to sit. Breakfast was nice with with hot and cold options. The location was fabulous, and an easy walk to most attractions. It's close to the Old Town, Royal Way, and also the very modern, huge shopping centre called Galeria Krakowska which has the Central Railway Station inside.

Unfortunately, the noise from tram traffic outside was very loud. We were expecting noise because of previous reviews, but this seemed louder than normal tram noise which wouldn't normally bother us. Perhaps this is because trams cross tracks as they turn at the very busy 4-way intersection outside, from around 5am till midnight. Maybe we were just unlucky that police and ambulances also went through this interesection late at night with horns blaring on all 3 nights we stayed. It seemed as noisy inside the room as it was outside, despite thick walls with double windows.

I have stayed at Hotel Polonia three times. Room 70 (a suite) was exceptional, Room 19 was close behind. I have also stayed in one of the standard rooms, which was also quite nice. I like the location - an easy walk from the train station, at a central hub for the tram and bus network, and not in old town but a short and pleasant walk to get there. The breakfast is quite good. I have used the restaurant for an espresso in the afternoon when I just wanted a pleasant place to write. The staff was friendly, and helpful when I had a special request. It has an older hotel feeling but nicely renovated. I have stayed at other hotels in Krakow, but in the end I prefer the Polonia.

Can’t think of any thing I didn’t like.
