Lovely breakfast, something for everyone.. don’t understand the reviews that complain about breakfast when you are spoilt for choice, even vegan options! Lovely staff really helpful and friendly- especially on reception. There was also a pool and a gym which yes they were small but it has everything you need to have a good workout, maybe not a full gym but don’t forget this is a hotel, many hotels don’t have a gym or a pool at all! Overall would stay here again!

Only slight problem we found was that the room was very cold with no heating system and more of an air cooler that we couldn’t switch off, but the lovely staff helped us with this problem and provided us with another duvet, so it’s not much of an issue.

Staff are adequate and courteous. Bed is comfortable.

It leaked when we were there. It was pouring water from the ceiling of the toilet.

Lovely room standards - Coffee machine and mini fridge were an added bonus Sofa, TV inputs and standing lamp offered a great movie night in experience Pool area was great size, clean and very relaxing with no overcrowding. Late opening times were greatly appreciated

We like the mirrors in the room but the almost see through toilet door was a bit much, probably could have done without The next day the shower smelt a little of damp or stagnant water Pool area could have done with a little more observation from staff as a family allowed their less than 10 year old in to jacuzzi, splashing us, and causing us to end our session earlier than planned

The hotel's location was excellent, just a short distance from the castle and surrounded by plenty of dining and drinking options. The spacious rooms and excellent facilities were a highlight of our stay.

Our experience was slightly marred by a delayed check-in for one of our rooms, which took over an hour past the designated time. Additionally, one of our rooms was not as clean as we would have liked.

Entrance was lovely, staff very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were lovely, clean and presentable. Comfortable bed and pillows. Food was nice. Entertainment in the evenings, really good. Card payments only throughout hotel. Pool clean.

Pool changing room was small, no rooms to get changed into. I have a teenage daughter who felt very uncomfortable, so she used the toilet to change into. Breakfast was lovely, but when you have multiple rooms and not a big enough dining area, it's a problem. Especially when you have busy periods. Staff were busy running around trying to clean tables to get the next people, who were waiting, seated. Toaster, only 1, which makes the wait longer and caused a que, in a small area.

The restaurant was excellent, breakfast was very good, our girls loved the waffle-making machines, but lunch and dinner were also very good. The pool, even if we didn't use it, looked very appealing, the interiors throughout seemed like they had been done quite recently and everything felt very clean and well-cared-for and maintained. Our room was quiet and comfortable, everything worked. The staff were all absolutely lovely and very helpful. The location was perfect for daily exploring, especially of the old town, taxis arrived in a heartbeat when we needed them.... everything exceeded our expectations. We would definitely choose to stay there again and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Our room felt a little bit crampt for the four of us with the sofa bed out, not much space between or around the beds. There wasn't much wardrobe/drawer space for all of our clothes but we managed. The toilet in our room was separate from the rest of the bathroom which was a bit odd...if there was a sink in there too it would have been better. We did like the bathroom though, with a very neat bath and shower and a lovely style of sink with quirky taps!

Location was fairly central but nicely quiet. The room was well-equipped and a good size. The pool was lovely and warm. The staff were excellent. We didn't have breakfast but our early morning coffee was perfect and accompanied by delicious little shortbread biscuits.

The only problem was with the beds. The mattress protectors were too big for twin beds and the bottom sheets were too narrow. This meant there were uncomfortable wrinkles, and that sheets became untucked and loose when you rolled over. A minor issue but irritating!

Lovely breakfast. Great location. Staff in the restaurant are exceptional and made our stay enjoyable. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was very nice. Swimming pool was quite small but certainly enough to entertain the kids. Facilities at the pool side were good and very clean. Room contained everything that could be needed I.e fan, iron, hairdryer, hot drinks etc. 10-12 mins walk to the castle. Few mins walk to the city centre. 10 mins walk from the train station although we used an Uber which took about 4 mins and cost £5!

As a family of 4 we found the room rather small. There were no drawers or wardrobe. The only small wardrobe contained ironing board and a fan. We didn’t mind this as only stayed 3 nights.

Great location. Fantastic Breakfast and great staff.

Price. As with everywhere for the Tattoo it was very expensive. Had an issue at check in. My credit card was declined despite being the one I used to pre book. I contacted my bank who assured me there were no issues with the card being blocked. We tried a different card machine and for half of the amount which worked. We then tried the same transaction which was declined. I finished up using my debit card which worked with no issues. My credit card worked outside of the hotel which suggested that the issue was with the hotel as suggested by my bank. Take a second card if possible.

Nice and quiet hotel (although it was full). Very convenient location near the Grassmarket and next to a bus stop for bus 035 and our hop-on hop-off buses. Good food at the restaurant and nice breakfast as well. Very nice view of the castle from our room. It was very convenient that it had many USB slots to charge our devices as we forgot to bring the UK adapter with us - this saved us a few pounds to buy an adapter.

Although the room was comfy, It is a bit weird to have the WC separate from the bathroom. At least you should be able to wash your hands in the WC, but no, you had to go to the bathroom for this. Breakfast was nice with variety of choices, but it was the same every day. Not a deal breaker though.
