An old worldy inn in a very scenic location. Room very original layout, a Superior king room converted from old stone outbuilding with entrance hall and bedroom upstairs. Fabulously comfortable huge bed and spacious bathroom. Excellent pub food for evening meal and a very tasty varied breakfast. Very good attentive staff

Sloping ceiling with beams in bedroom a bit difficult to movie around in comfortably. Large radiator kicking out a lot of heat but room still chilly. Bathroom with heated towel rail on all the time but room also still very cold. Some sort of central fan noise from adjoining rooms kept coming on throughout night which ruined my sleep.

Kitchen area and bathroom 5* lovely clean modern feeling .Good to have outdoor area Property set in a beautiful area .Excellently placed for short breaks while it’s position is perfect for exploring the wonderful countryside and villages of Yorkshire

Felt cottage living room was a little grandma’s Removed all cushion’s and left the two modern ones too old fashioned to give a welcome The dining room was packed with massive amount of clutter made it feel grubby and dark Old buildings don’t need to be full of old things clear rooms feel brighter and are cleaner and the features of the building can then be seen Out side needed a short curved panel to provide a little privacy

Loved the cabin. We had the one with 2 bedrooms. Well decorated and furnished. Great showers. A lovely lounge with fabulous views. The hot tub is good. Coffee and tea facilities good but not suitable for self catering. But why would you want to cook with an excellent restauraunt with great choices and very good service. Breakfast is also excellent. We stayed 2 nights though I would stay longer. Although it is out in country within half an hour you can be sat on a York Park and Ride bus.

There seemed to be a problem with housekeeping. Not a cheap visit but they seemed to think making one bed and replacing mugs was a favour. The woman checking us out made sure we knew she had done that and nagged us for a tip. I would not give her a tip again. Service was already included on the bill. It left an unpleasant feeling afyer a great stay

The room for us (Field) was perfect, we had 2 dogs with us so we was tucked away in the corner, there was plenty of room. When we stay again this would be the room we would want again. The staff are so friendly and made the stay perfect, helping with a surprise birthday for my husband.

Our friends stayed in Blue room, which they found too hot but they had a lot of noise. Draymen doing a delivery about 5am. Banging about. And talking loudly to each other. For us personally no faults.

Lovely room, great food, lovely staff, very pretty location, well placed for walking, or visiting nearby towns/cities such as York

Just a slight issue over controlling the heat level in the room. It was lovely and cosy during the day but we would have liked to turn it down at night. Staff were helpful when asked about this and provided a quiet air conditioning fan, but ideally it would be helpful if the control on the radiator could be used.

The menu and food were excellent. Wine list was good. Parking directly outside the room was great. The room was excellent especially given it was a dog friendly room ( we had a dog - in many places the dog friendly rooms are not good.). The welcoming pack was very informative. Great for non locals to know what walks there were. At breakfast the service and food were both excellent. We met the owner who was very friendly, the chef and some of the bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

One member of staff on arriving was abrupt to the point of rude. Throughout our 2 days that didn’t improve. Not a nice experience.

A very friendly and cosy atmosphere. It was a stopover travelling back from Scotland. A little out of the way but it was well worth it.

The bed was nice and big, but a little soft for my personal taste. Mentioned about a small noise in the room during the night, but it was getting checked out, it may have just been the heating system. There was a little problem with the meals but the staff couldn't do enough to rectify them, which is all you can ask for, really great breakfast choices too! We shall return.

The layout and location were fabulous the staff in particular Adam were exceptional. There was no power at the property due to storm eyone, we decided to stay were provided lots of candles thry went to collect a food order for us, Adam was brilliant. We are looking forward to returning to experience the hot tub and amazing showers.

The weather was not our friend, but everything else was spot on.

What a great pub with another pub hidden in the back. Great views, really well presented throughout, restaurant, accommodation, bar. There's another pub in the car park area that appears to offer an alternative drinking and eating area during busier periods. Loved in, and I would definitely recommend for a weekend escape into Yorkshire.

Sensor light in bathroom- probably wasted more electric that way as it stayed on for a long time after you left which wasn't very good in the night Juices at breakfast weren't labelled or not that I could see anyway
