Good location, very close to the centre, metro and buses., bars and restaurants. I liked the hand wash basin in the room, plenty of space for your belongings, and very clean. It even had a blow dryer, which I thought was a nice detail! Bathroom for me, being petite was good. no cooking facilities, only micro wave available and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities.

A bit noisy because of building work taking place and traffic, so I couldn't' t sleep with the window open. The pillow I found a bit on the hard side. Although the mattress was good, It was too soft for me, as I suffer from a bad back. The only thing is that the other guests come out of the shower with wet feet, so slippers are a good thing to have. Building has squeaky wooden floors and doors, a bit of oil on the hinges perhaps?

We entered with no expectations, however, it turned out to be one of the best of all our stays in Portugal! The land-lady, together with other staff are extremely nice and helpful. The room had everything necessary, even hair-dryer and BASIN!- which is the best in case you opt for shared bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the bed sheets smelled amazing! The property was all very clean and pretty modern. You could store there your luggage for free after checking out. Location is great, but slightly on a hill, so, as in the whole city, you will be working out (nothing extrem!). There is great Ramen place nearby!.. and many other eating options, starting from brunches...

The room was smaller, as well as the bed, but me and my partner (170cm and 190cm surprisingly comfortably fitted in.) Many steps and no elevator, but this is very common in the whole country.

The only thing I don’t like is I only stayed for one night! This guest house might look old outside but inside it’s very well-maintained. As a solo traveler, I recommend booking your own room! It’s affordable and competitive with the price of hostels (where you share the space with other people). It’s spacious! The shared bathroom is also clean. No elevator but not a problem since the stairs are not steep. The location is not that far from the tourist spots. I think I must mention that they even have AC, which is unusual for hostels/guest houses in EU. I didn’t use it though. Highly recommended!

None!

This was a surprisingly nice stay during our trip to Porto. Though from the outside of the building you may think this hotel is a little run down, but upon entering the building your mind will be changed. The inside is filled with original tiling and stonework, and is kept very cool inside due to the architecture of the building. Rooms do not have A/C which we were worried about during a 90°F heatwave in July, but we slept comfortably and the room stayed nice and cold even without an A/C unit. The room was decently sized and the beds were really comfortable. Beds and sheets were clean as well. The staff was really nice and helpful, overall a really great experience especially for the price!!

Nothing really!

I loved the staff; so friendly and polite. And they switched my room without me asking when they realised I had been put in one without heating. I also like the type of architecture, althought I understand it's not the most comfortable. I love old buildings.

The TV was not so good, most channels had very unclear image. Also, and this is not the property's fault - it's noisy. There are establishments right outside and people hand out by the door drinking and having a fun albeit loud time. Perhaps investing in sound proof windows would make it better, but at the price we are paying, it's not a fair ask. I missed a shower rest, as it makes it difficult to wash your hair without one.

A Portuguesa has been the very perfect place for our stay in Porto :)) we ended up there by chance, after being scammed by an awful pre-booked accomodation that we had to leave, and we felt immediately welcomed and relieved. Adriano and the Lady are very kind-hearted people and they provided us with anything we could ever need.. even a bottle of wine to celebrate our last night in Porto! The place is very cute and cozy, perfectly cleaned, and it's located in a vibrant and lovely neighbourhood. We only wish we could have stayed a little bit longer!

I had a cute single room on the top floor of the house. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and it was possible to control street noise by closing the windows and using the air conditioning/heating system to control the temperature & ventilation.close to Many restaurants & shops in a mostly pedestrian area. Access to a kettle & microwave in a small sitting room, for guests, if needed.

As others have mentioned, the bathroom was a bit difficult to use functionally but nothing that couldn’t be managed.

This guest house was a little gem, very well located and walking distance to loads of fabulous sites which made it easy to navigate. The staff were lovely and very welcoming, making us feel instantly at home and comfortable. Adrien certainly made sure we were looked after and had all sorts of great suggestions for what to see and do.

Mostly all good, I would like to have opened the window however it was extremely heavy and a bit risky (hence the warning sign on the wall), we had a fan however it was still quite warm inside.

A Portuguesa is a guest house for people who are looking for a simple bedroom for a reasonable price. The guesthouse is located in an authentic old house, which could use some renovation on the outside. Inside it is well maintained. It is quietly located in a pleasant neighborhood with many bars and restaurants. Much less touristy than the area on the banks of the Douro. The ladies at the reception, who speak only Portuguese, are very friendly.

The layout of the bathroom was awkward. The toilet was not placed properly.

Location: it is a good location to get around. It is a little further from the main center by the Douro River but alright for a first visit given the value. I was with my friend and it was a 10-minute walking from his room at another guest house. Room: the room was spacious with a window looking out to the street, and it included a shower which was amazing. I did not stay in the room much other than to rest, sleep and get dressed. Bathroom: there was a full bathroom outside of my room which included a toilet that I had access to. There is also another bathroom the floor below that was always available.

I would not say there was anything I did not like because I knew the location was ideal walking distance from my friend's guest house. We both found it great. At times it did get very hot and there is no air cooling system other than a fan but it was fine for me.
