Liked everything about it our room just of the lovely lounge all on the flat for hubby .Dot and Adrian could not do enough for us bringing fresh milk to our room every day for our tea .had a good chat with Dot in the mornings ....a woman of many talents and Adrian is a big gentle giant a smashing couple the house was immaculate beds were lovely and comfy and spotlessly clean .this will be our stop over everytime we go down home now . Oh and glad hubby asked for a "small" cooked breakfast !! And when you look at the photo album when they bought Cairndoon to what it is now is unbelievable and Dot and Adrian did the majority of the work themselves and the view from the lounge is breathtaking

There was nothing to not like about it apart from time went past way to quickly .

A beautiful property in a quiet location, with plenty parking space. Room was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and easy ground floor access. However it was the breakfast which really made this a standout stay - with its combination of fresh exotic fruit and choice of quality fry up ingredients (english and scottish versions) . For us on this occasion, this was just passing through for a night, heading for a ferry to Northern Ireland the next morning, but will definitely look to book again if in the area in the future.

With a late arrival and early start, we got no chance to explore a bit more widely. But no problems at all with the stay.

The standard of the accommodation was exceptional and Dot and Adrian were very friendly and helpful in finding a good restaurant a few miles away. The views from the house were wonderful. Breakfast was just what we wanted and good locally sourced food beautifully cooked and served in a friendly informal way. Although we didn't take advantage of it, we appreciated being offered the use of a comfortable lounge.

We had a little difficulty finding the property and for us the location was very remote with regard to dinner options and short evening walks. But Dot was easily able to recommend a good restaurant in the next town.

Cairndoon is a beautiful, peaceful and magical find. The owners, Dot & Adrian, are amazing. We have never stayed anywhere before with this level of kindness, professionalism and pride. We had booked the Accessible room and it was perfect. So clean, spacious and high quality fixtures and fittings. The breakfast choice was very wide and suited both meat eater and veggie. Locally sourced produce and super scrumptious.

I honestly cannot think how anything could be better. We are both looking forward to returning soon.

It was clear from the moment we arrived that Cairndoon Byre had been a labour of love in terms of the pride our hosts have for their home ..and in terms of the graft it has taken to get it to what is now a beautiful property ..its easy to understand why. Dot & Adrian couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and upon leaving it felt more like we had been staying with friends we had known for years ..rather than a couple we had only met two days previously ... It really goes without saying that if we are ever in this part of the world again for a holiday..then this would be our number one choice for somewhere to stay . Breakfasts by the way are worth the cost alone ..magnificent !

I honestly can't think of anything ..even the weather played its part with two gloriously hot & sunny days ..

As soon as we stepped through the door we were made very welcome. Nothing was a problem for hosts Dot and Adrian. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable with an amazing view. Breakfast was exceptional with a great variety to choose from. If you want a break with beautiful surroundings within easy distance of great walks, beaches and attractions, then return after your day out to hosts who are so attentive and make you feel like they have known you for years then Cairndoon Byre is the place for you.

Having to leave :-)

Cairndoon Byre was recommended to us by family from nearby Whithorn. The owners and hosts Dot & Adrian built the property converting a derelict cow shed into a stunning home offering B&B accommodation. We booked and stayed for 2 nights. The welcome we received on arrival was very friendly, the room we were given was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished and the breakfast was excellent in both choice and quality. Dot & Adrian couldn’t do enough to ensure we had an excellent stay; they even prepared a takeaway breakfast for us to take to Stranraer Parkrun. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything from welcome to farewell was really excellent. Dot and Adrian were so lovely to chat with and seemed to always know the perfect time to come and check on us when we were using the lounge to eat our dinner in the evening and then at breakfast the next morning. Our room was perfect and everything has been finished to a really high standard. The hard work that Dot and Adrian have put in has certainly paid off! Breakfast was also fantastic, we chose to have a full Scottish breakfast and it was gorgeous! Thanks so much for having us at your home from home!

There is nothing we didn't like, we wouldn't change a thing!!

Dot and Adrain where very good hosts, and made very welcomed from the beginning, even got fresh milk for coffee in room placed into a flask and extra for breckfest. felt like being at home, nice and cosy.

I couldnt fault the owners, just a wee bit early for last orders on a sunday for breckfest, 845am. got to be honest breakfast was to die for, thought we would be able to saty in bed longer after a long journey to get to lovely house.

Our stay in the Galloway region had many pleasant surprises, but none like the B&B we were in. Great location, close to different towns and sightseeing hotspots. Nice room with great views. The breakfast was exceptional, easily the best full English, with fresh produce and generous portions. And above all, the hosts Dot and Adrian made the visit a wonderful time, full of warmth and hospitality. We will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommended.
