Breakfast was not great, no cups, no plates, no butter etc.. very little choice even though it was just a continental, felt a nuisance having to ask for everything, but we didnt expect any breakfast so not complaining, just a helpful comment I hope.
When we got to room there was no towels or toilet roll so we had to go back to bar to ask for them, said would be put in, we went back to room 6 hours later and still none, found our own towels but had to go back to bar for toilet roll and biscuits in coffee tray were 3 months out of date.

Staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming, free breakfast was an unexpected bonus, and delicious. We were staying to visit the Christmas market, but the weather was not on our side so we retreated to the pub anticipating an early night. In the end we had plenty of drinks in the bar, warmed by the fire, and had a laugh and a sing with the staff!
Bedroom was a little cold, but the bedding and curtains were thick, and additional heaters had been placed on ahead of our arrival

The location. Room was fine.
Menu a bit limited. Too early closing for food at 7.45pm. Rushed for food because of deadline, which was brought forward by staff as a deadline. Staff were great, though!! Apart from that, breakfast lacking proper potential, continental not really it!! Location fantastic but expensive compared to City prices eg Galtres Lodge which is amazing on all fronts.

The pub is a very old stone building set by the river Ouse with its own carpark and jetty. There is a river bus at weekends to York centre. The pub internally retains all the old world charm but has tastefully been brought up to modern standards of comfort whilst retaining its log fire and armchairs. Upstairs the rooms are named after famous old ships. Ours was the Santa Maria. The rooms are spotless, a reasonable size, and with a good ensure. Ours hade excellent views across the river to sit watching the boats. Because of the age of the building upstairs there are a number of steps up and down along the corridors. Just part of the antiquity. The staff are friendly, chatty and eager to look after you. All in all a great stopover on our travels. We had food and drink whilst here. The beers included local real ales which I had to sample🤣 all 3 off and a range of lagers and ciders. Food was excellent, very large portions and fair priced.
What's not to like. Maybe a better mattress? Ours was a bit springy, but everybody has different tastes in these.

The young owners were very friendly and a very good hosts. We were greeted with smiles from staff and local people from a local village b and b felt very warm and welcomed. We travelled from somerset and if we had more time free we would have quite happily of stayed a second night. I intend to bring my partner over in the new year as this time i stayed with my dad. The b an b felt like home and nothing was to much trouble.
Nothing we could fault.

The location for visiting York is ideal. The room we had was lovely and warm. The bed was really comfy snd we had a good night's sleep. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The guys behind the bar were great and helped sort my computer issue. Great asset to the place. We gad dinner thee and it was really good. Loved the salted caramel cheesecake 😋

Very cosy Inn, beautifully situated with a very helpful staff. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet.
The bus that goes by doesn't run on Sundays, so if you need to travel on Sunday, make sure to book the taxi early or to travel so late you have plenty of time to walk to Askham Bar to a bus that runs on Sunday.

Great location and great views.
Breakfast was pretty basic only ate once. No milk and toilet roll in room. Quite a bit of dusting needed and we asked for an iron and ironing board which was promptly delivered, thank you. Bar room availability was difficult unless you pre booked a table, obviously a busy place.

Lovely cosy pub in a beautiful location. The rooms were spotlessly clean and we had a lovely big bathroom. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. We had breakfast which was delicious.
We stayed in the room in the attic with a sloping roof. We did bang our head a few times on the low roof. Also the shower head was too heavy for the shower stand. When the shower was turned on, the spray tilted backwards towards the wall and couldn't be pointed at yourself. We definitely would stay here again but would request a different room.

The location was very good. Quiet yet very close to York and the park and ride. Riverside location with nice walks including ex railway cycle track.
I understand that we had the last room which would best be described as quaint. Much ducking was required to avoid head injuries. This was caused by a steep sloping roof reduced further by a large old wooden beam. Host told us that this was the only room like this.
