From the moment you arrive at this hotel you feel welcome, I was greeted by Conrad and his lovely team - a cup of Earl grey tea served with fresh South African milk tart ! This place oozes warmth , luxury and attention to detail . A warm fire place to sit and just be .. nighttime comes and your bed is turned down with a sweet late night surprise on your pillow and a warm water bottle tucked underneath your fresh white linen . Conrad and his team knows the perfect balance between attending to you and to let you enjoy the hotel - always there always smiling . Fantastic ‘Healing earth ‘ amenities in the room makes it feel as if you’ve entered a space treatment ! To top it all , the Morning breakfast was delicious ! I will definitely be back .

Absolutely nothing

Our room that we stayed in as well as the hotel is beautiful. It is also clean, comfortable and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Franklin and the team that was on duty really did a great job. We had forgotten an item of clothing after we checked out and Franklin called to inform us. When we arrived back at the hotel to fetch it, he was waiting outside to hand it over. That was really much appreciated. Also the complimentary creme brulee with the turndown service was a great touch :-)

We have no complaints. Just sorry the weather was not great enough for us to make use of the lovely pool.

Stunning boutique hotel with very comfortable communal area with an honesty bar that was FOC. Breakfast was high quality although did notice a lot of waste from the fruit / bread / meat trays that are given to every table. Location is perfect for Franshoek and staff very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local and surrounding area

Didn’t have a gym. I guess I was there to relax but always like a gym where possible. With that said they give complimentary access to a health club less than a 5 minute walk away which was well equipped and the small pool the hotel has is very nice

This boutique hotel is top quality in every way. We stayed in two different rooms and both were exceptional, the beds are so comfortable the rooms are huge and bathrooms just plush. What makes it even better is the little extra touches with free mini bar in the room and bar area. In the evening when your beds are turned down you get left a little treat on your pillow. The room also has a wide choice of usb and charging points. The breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip in South Africa. The location is perfect next to all the bars, restaurants and art galleries. We highly recommend this hotel. Franklin was a great host.

The property has no faults

Breakfast was very good. Staff might have been a bit too keen to please, so we felt a little rushed. Nice size bedroom and bathroom with large walk in shower.

The double bed was short. I am 6 foot and my feet extended past the end of the bed. We were only told at the end of our stay that the bar fridge and the lounge drinks were complimentary. The parking behind the gate was very tight, difficult to get 4 cars in and out.

This place is a gem amd what a lovely welcome we had. Conrad and his team are amazing, the rooms and the whole hotel is decorated with taste, the service is perfect and the breakfast is from heaven. I would recommend this place to everyone looking to extend the magic in Franschhoek and have an exceptional experience. We opted for the room with private pool, gorgeous!! There aren't enough words to describe what a little slice of heaven the Last Word is. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, and welcoming. Conrad and his team were so welcoming and attentive to all our needs. They were helpful and informative, giving you advice on things to do but also space to explore. The attention to detail is unmatched. Small gestures such as a thoughtful dessert on your bed at the end of the day, were just some of the ways they made our stay special. The facilities are luxurious, the location is perfect for exploring Franschhoek on foot. The only negative feeling we had during our entire stay was having to leave. Would recommend 100 times over. Thank you!

Very well-located for walking along the Franschoek high street to visit the numerous restaurants and coffee shops. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and Conrad kindly helped with some recommendations for wineries to visit. The very large room was beautifully appointed with a comfortable bed and there were lovely robes provided. The big bonus was coming home each night to a tasty little treat waiting for us!

A Do Not Disturb/ Please Clean sign would have been useful - staff seemed to knock at our door quite frequently which was a bit annoying. I don't think the pool was heated as advertised, but I imagine that's quite difficult with all the load shedding that is going on across the country.

Everything about The Last Word was exceptional, starting with the manager, Franklin. He was the consummate professional, dedicating himself to ensure every detail was taken care of. Fabulous very comfortable suites, with special touches - my room had a glassed in veranda next to the pool and my son’s room had a veranda that led into a small garden. Very magical! The breakfast was served in a quaint dining room, with gorgeous plates, and was excellent. We loved our stay in this wonderful gem of a hotel

EVERYTHING. Firstly, the staff go out of their way to warmly welcome you on arrival and accommodate for your every needs. Rooms are phenomenal and so comfortable that you can relax in it the entire day if the weather is unpleasant. Breakfast was excellent! Great location. Will definitely come back very soon!
