central location but noise in rooms

Even though we paid for breakfast, the hotel they took money for cappuccino while in breakfast

Location may be great for some tourists but it was too noisy and too bright (due to Times Square’s screens) for me. Also, I found an empty medicine sheet/slip between my bed and the cabinet so I think cleaning could haven better. I did not expect this from such hotel. I also wish that breakfast was included in the rate.

The view of Broadway Street from my room was amazing. The front desk personnel were quite helpful and friendly.

The fact that I had to request for my room to be cleaned and the bed made up everyday. The reason given was Covid-19 which I think was ludicrous. My accepted norm is that the room should be cleaned and the bed made up as long as it is occupied. There should be no need to request.

Overall, this is a nice modern hotel. The room is super clean with modern furniture. The view of the time-square is very nice. There are plenty of elevators with a secure and efficient access, so waiting time to get into the room is practically negligible. The cleaning staff are also very friendly. The check-in and check-out were very fast.

Three things that we did not like about this hotel. (1) We tried calling the front desk on a number of occasions, but no one is picking the phone at all. In one case, the AC/Light at the room went off and we tried several times to call but no one answered. I had to go in person to talk to the front desk to resolve the issue. (2) Location is essentially at the time-square. This might be a good thing for some, but as a family (with young kids), the location was not ideal. It was hard to navigate through the tremendous amount of pedestrians once we stepped outside the hotel. Also, walking at night does not seem safe. (3) The workers in Starbucks at level 8 are rude and unprofessional.

Housekeeping walked in without knocking when we were dressing, Le Petit Chef was overpriced, minimal staff to help, elevator s were crowded and slow.

The Marriot Marquis is brilliantly located for a NYC city break. The room was clean on arrival and big for NYC standards, fitted a family of 4 no problem. I would definitely recommend the rooms with a view of Times Square. Lifts were great - no waiting. The staff were all very friendly.

Only gripe was that there was almost no room cleaning service which is disappointing. If I am paying to stay in a hotel, I expect a daily cleaning service - otherwise I would stay in an Air BnB. We were told on arrival that we would have to request cleaning/fresh towels/toiletries as required. When we did, the service was still patchy. Also it was disappointing that the revolving restaurant/bar was closed. These issues should be reflected in a reduction in price, in my opinion.

Our experience was fabulous from beginning to end! We arrived on a Thursday around noon. Kevin at reception was wonderful and upgraded our two rooms to a Times Square view for our 21st anniversary. He also had chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine waiting for us when we did. Most hotels don't realize this but it's the little gestures that will keep us coming back again and again! Thank you Kevin and Marriott Marquis!! The hotel was in a great location giving us an easy walk to Rockefeller Center, shopping on 5th Avenue, Central Park, the Gershwin Theater, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, and much more! Grabbing a hotdog from a street vendor or a piece of New York style pizza at Joe's was minutes away. The subway was minutes away giving us access to the rest of Manhattan and beyond! Beyond the great location and helpful, friendly staff, the rooms were beautiful, the beds were comfortable, the connecting rooms were perfect for our family, and that VIEW!! Highly recommend!

We were charged a $180 resort fee ($30 per day/room). With this, each room had a $30 food credit which could be used at the main restaurants on the property. We were hoping to grab a bite to eat someplace with a great Times Square view. Unfortunately, The View was closed for a private experience and the Broadway Lounge had their window sections closed each time we stopped. With so many options in the area we easily found options outside of the hotel, unfortunately, that means we forfeited $180 in food credits.

Hotel location is absolutely perfect, you are in Times Square. The restaurant has a view to Times Square, especially in the nights it's amazing. The open buffet breakfast was perfect, it had more than everything. Hotel gives 30 dollars credit per room that can be spent in hotel's restaurant. Refreshment water in the lobby was good. Room was spacious and comfortable.

This hotel has the most crowded lobby I've ever seen, you need to wait in long queues even for a small question. There should be separate queues for checkin/checkouts and during stay experience. They transfer you to a in-hotel phone call for even those small things such as dental kits or shaver sets. And we had to call 3 times to get them, it's not working. Also one of the phones connected to hotel wifi stopped working in last 2 days, front desk couldn't solve it and we had no help from IT. Rooms were renovated but selected furniture were not notable and bathtub was so old. There were switch frames without switch in it. Marriott could do the renovation better. Also bathroom amenities smelled terrible, they should change the brand.

I think it is about thime you would start to clean the rooms on daily basis or give discounts on the rooms. The excuse of covid is in my opinion no longer relevant for the lack of service. I did not like the mandatory 30USD daily spend. The wifi charge on daily basis is ridiculous at this time. It should be a given. I find it hard to understand that if I go to public areas I can use the wifi and tin the room I get charged.
