Very friendly host and easy check-in. The room was cosy but had all we needed and there was access to a shared kitchen and lounge area. It was easy to find, parking was ok and the location was perfect for exploring Tongariro National Park. Also a couple of decent restaurants close by. Our host was very knowledgeable about the area and very helpful giving us guidance on what to see.

Minor point is it's next to the main road and traffic, though intermittent, could be noisy for some people .

The lodge is very clean and tidy. They provide a microwave, oven, and mini fridge in my room which is very considerate. Shower is great. I visited at the end of August, two heaters were provided and also electric blanket. Very warm inside. Considering the price and the proximity to Mt Ruapehu and Tongariro, and all the facilities they provided (they even offer a free hot pool for half an hour, although I didn't book it) , it is good value for money.

The only issue is that the lodge is located by the roadside, and on the first night, I kept hearing the noise of cars speeding by, making it difficult to sleep. This may be my fault as I didn't pay close attention to the location when booking. Please noted that there was no issue about the soundproofing because I never heard any sound from the neighbors. So, the conclusion is that I might be more sensitive or possibly suffering from nervous exhaustion. My partner slept soundly and didn't hear what I heard at all. After a day of skiing on the second day, I was exhausted and fell asleep quickly, and the issue from the first night did not recur.

The room had everything it needed. The shower room was small but clean with a good powered hot shower. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was basic but enjoyable. There were what looked like very good cooking facilities (which we didn’t make use of)

The location of the hotel is on a main highway so if your bedroom is at the front there will be a lot of traffic noise, particularly heavy vehicles at night.

The location for starters. The area is awesome. The property was easy to find and very convenient. Our hostess was very friendly and welcoming and everything we needed was available . The property is old but very cosy. Lots of wood to keep the Swiss chalet style. It suited us well for the night.

We loved it. Just to point out though that the en suite is very small with just a tiny basin. Don’t be put off by that.

I love the location and the beautiful view behind the lodge, expensive fields looking over llamas. Maria was very nice and accommodating. After our first night we decided to stay an extra night since it is so peaceful. They have a hot tub that they allow patrons to book a half hour at a time for a private spa experience. The area is so beautiful. Maria also helped us plan an excellent day trip and the information she provided was enough for several days of activities. If we had more time I would likely stay another night so we could do the 4 wheeling with the husband and their adventure company. We also used the drying rack and outdoor drying area to air dry our washed clothes. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is also great in our room easy to use.

I did not realize it does not have air conditioning which may be standard for this area. There is a fan which is sufficient. Our shower floor is slanted so it holds water unless you kick it to the drain. There is wifi but I didn’t understand how to use, and I did not ask. I just used my cellular data which is fine for me.

The lodge was very close to Tongariro park. The owners were very helpful. The spa tub was lovely after the hiking. The lodge is also close to a convenience store to buy basic groceries (recommended to do food shopping for produce and anything other than basics before getting to National Park).

Spotless! Exceptional staff. Even loaned my husband a raincoat because he forgot his. Would've had to cancel our hike otherwise.

Small quarters for 4 adults. No living area/couch and TV was awkward position. Had to sit reversed on bed to watch. Not a huge deal since we weren't there to watch TV but when it was on it was awkward. Close to highway. Highway noise loud until 11pm but fine once we were sleeping.

Friendly down to earth hosts and a great location right in the heart of Tongariro National Park. Very comfortable and practical accommodation with good cooking facilities for self-catering. Rooms were clean and comfortable and there is convenient off-street parking. Shops, bar and cafe close by in the village if you need these.

During the day the highway outside is busy but at night it was quiet

Really comfortable and staff were amazing. Very helpful. Great value for money and would stay again ! Super clean and comfortable beds. Great for family trip. Lovely and warm.

Nothing signifiant - traffic a little annoying but then again we knew the location on main road so to be expected. Wouldn't put us off staying again.
