Great location, fantastic staff to offer tips about places to eat (go to Schnapp’s Bar for delicious and plentiful food) and alternative hikes. Very nice family friendly vibe with trampoline and ping pong table, inviting communal kitchen and space. Though we stayed mainly in our room/suite as it had a kitchenette and living area which was very comfy and WiFi excellent. Our room didn’t have a tub to soak in after a long hike, but there is an option to book. Also laundry facilities on site. Plentiful parking. Definitely recommend!

Cute cozy cabins. Really clever idea. Good for a cheap and cheerful one night stay. May start to feel very small and uncomfortable for a longer stay. Really just good accommodation if you are only planning on being there for the night and out and about for the day.

The bathtub is outside, which is cleverly hidden by the curvature of the neighbouring unit, with gardens shielding them on the other side. However, we had the end unit, and there is no other building to shield ther bath and the shrubbery meant to be blocking the bath from the main road was quite dead and leafless, so the main road has a view of the bathtub. So I could not use it, making it a bit superfluous. Perhaps a screen /trellis to block it from the road would give a little more privacy.

The room has a sink, a mirror, and a portable heater. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with everything you need. Each room has its own section in the fridge and cupboard. The common area is large, and there’s a wood fireplace. There are multiple shared bathrooms, all of which are clean.

We stayed in a room with a double bed and a bunk bed. The double bed was comfortable, but the bunk beds were far too soft—you’re basically lying directly on the base. Probably more suitable for children with less weight.

Perfect location for TAC - relaxing in the bath a must having done the crossing! All very clean, modern beautifully presented and quite chic - absolute delight to stay and would thoroughly recommend these King studios. Sarah was extremely welcoming, full of info about the area and a real pleasure to meet! Thank you

Loved absolutely everything about the studio except the bedding. Didn’t sleep well first night as the two single beds, pushed together to present a double, had two single mattress covers on it that had been stretched to try cover both. The bottom sheet was also a single sheet trying to cover a double bed which meant a very uncomfortable night. However, in speaking to the laundry lady in the morning she gave me s double sheet which I fitted. Thank you for this. All was now well and good nights sleep!

I have never stayed in a container before, and I was a bit apprehensive, but I found it extremely spacious and comfortable for such a small space. The shower was also quite good and the rest of the facilities were sufficient for what we were there to do, the Tongariro Crossing. Hot bath after such a long day was also much appreciated.

Due to the lack of insulation and soundproofing in a container, we found ourselves freezing cold in the evenings and windows full of condensation, so make sure that you use the little heater provided, it actually worked pretty well. we could also hear every single thing that the couple next-door was saying or doing.. not much that can be done about that perhaps a suggestion for some quiet times and more mindfulness to guests upon checkin.

I had one of the garden studios which was very clean, spacious, and well appointed! The staff were very friendly and made checking in incredibly simple. I would stay here again!

My only complaint is that unit 16 isn’t very private as the sliding door faces the parking lot and while there are bushes between you, they are a little sparse. I felt like I had to keep the curtains closed the whole time but it was late afternoon when I arrived so that wasn’t a big issue. Also, the beautiful outdoor bath is in full view of the parking lot so the photos are a bit deceptive. You would want to wear a bathing suit if you used the bath tub.

Our family arrived on a cold, rainy winter afternoon and found that they had accidentally booked us for a family room with a communal bath rather than the 2-bedroom private apartment we had reserved. They were horrified by the error and called around to other hotels in the area to see if any rooms were available for us, and refunded our full payment and paid for a room at another hotel nearby. This hotel was not as nice as Plateau Lodge, but we are extremely grateful that they went above and beyond to rectify this error - way more than expected.

We would have loved to stay with them.

We stayed in the king pod. The bed was comfy and the TV had Netflix so a good pod for unwinding in. They were also very warm, which was need in the cold. Excellently located for tongariro crossing and the train station.

Bit of an Instagram v Reality moment on arrival. The outdoor tub was very exposed as no leaves on the bush which gave full views to the main road, they also face the car park. The bathroom sink is tiny so can't fill water bottles up. Microwaves shown in pictures aren't in the rooms but kettle and fridges are.

We were really impressed with the cleanliness, both in the room and in the shared bathroom. It was also nice that there was a sink in the bedroom. The location was great, we drove to the national park to do the Tama Lakes Track and it was a blessedly short drive back. The other guests were pretty quiet, and in the communal spaces they were all very nice.

We had a room with a queen bed and a bunk bed, and the queen bed mattress was so old and saggy that we knew our backs would suffer. We ended up sleeping in the bunk beds, which had slightly more support. This probably wouldn't be an issue for people in their early 20s.

Great Lodge for couples. It is close to the National Park (15 min drive) and near the Lodge everything is in walking distance (small convenience store (which is very expensive tho) and a restaurant where you can have breakfast). The Check-In and Check-Out was fast and easy and the owner are nice!! They have everything ready to explain to visitors and what we needed to know for laundry, parking, etc. Laundry room and kitchen is possible to use. You should definitely be aware of having not too much space (we booked a Kind Studio Pod) and it felt a little bit like Glamping. However, you’ve got everything what you need (water kettle, fridge, plates, etc.) The bath tub outside was quiet an eyecatcher, even tho we did not use it. We had a small porch right in front of the Studio and this was very convenient for having meals outside. All in all we would recommend it staying at this Lodge!

It was a little cold during the night. Therefore, we had a small heater. Unfortunately, the smoke alarm started beeping after turning on the heater.
