Amazing style and "atmosphere" at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, genuinely seemed like they wanted to help. Room was beautiful, well laid out, good mini bar, comfortable bed and amazing view (castle view room). Location is even better than the hotel itself. Walk out the door and right to the main old town area attractions. One thing to note, TAKE A TAXI if arriving from the train station. We say it was a short distance and decided to walk it with our suitcases, which lead to us lugging out bags up countless staircases. Taxi back to the station at the end of the trip was only $5.....So just take the taxi haha.

Beautiful hotel! The breakfast was fantastic my 1st morning. It was still good other mornings but when I ordered the same thing the 2nd day, it wasn't quite as good albeit still good. I loved the room and especially the balcony. It was so nice sitting out there and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The staff was so kind and helpful. I will definitely stay here again! I want a vanity and bathroom with the shower at home! 😁

There was more avocado and feta the 1st morning breakfast but it was still good other mornings. If I had to choose 1 thing, I like a fan on at night for sound and coolness, they did not have a fan. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

The location is perfect and the staff was top tier and so welcoming, kind, and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and thoughtfully laid out without being stuffy or pretentious. The breakfast was delicious and beautiful. Even the chef that made the eggs and waffles was the kindest man. Normally, Virgin Hotel Edinburgh is out of my price range but I caught a deal so I could finally stay. I almost wish I hadn’t so I wouldn’t know what I was missing when I can’t afford it. Haha. I’ve stayed at other Virgin Hotels (NYC and Chicago) and so far, Edinburgh is my favorite.

The location is perfect, close to bars, shops, restaurants and main attractions. The room has high ceilings, double windows that isolate you from the noise outside and very nice amenities and furniture. The bed and pillows are perfect. The overall vibe of the place is amazing, down to every detail like aroma, design, lighting, etc. definitely high end.

The toilet is not isolated from the room, so if you’re lying on the bed, you can literally hear the person in the toilet sigh, and of course all the rest. Terrible experience. The floor outside the shower, in front of the sink is heated, which is good for about 5 minutes when you get out of the shower, but it becomes uncomfortable the rest of the time, when you’re brushing your teeth, changing or just passing through the area. It also heats up the room and by morning you either need to crank up the AC or deal with it. There is no parking or valet. One employee told us they had a deal with St James Quarter parking lot, but when I asked for validation they said there was no deal in place, so I had to pay the nightly rate of 20 some pounds.

The location was absolutely fantastic, allowing us to reach all the places we wanted to visit within a 10-minute walk. It made exploring the area so much easier and more enjoyable. The breakfast was not only delicious but also had a wide variety of options, which made every morning a great start to the day. The room was very spacious and comfortable, providing a relaxing environment after a long day out. We were also impressed by the high-quality amenities such as the bathrobes and towels—they truly added a luxurious touch. Pilliows and bed are the comfiest. Additionally, the housekeeping service was exceptional and exceeded our expectations; it was one of the best we’ve ever experienced. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend it!

This is a well-designed and decorated hotel. The room is large and the layout is very reasonable. The room is comfortable and clean. The breakfast is delicious. There are many kinds of food and fresh. The front desk service, room service and restaurant service are all very good. The location of the hotel is very good. It is only a five-minute walk to the castle, museum and gallery. St. Gill's Church and the downtown square are nearby, and it is only a 15-minute walk from the railway station. Perfect experience! Highly recommended!

Everything is so good

A very classy hotel in a brilliant location. It’s very new so all very clean and shiny. The room was beautifully quiet which is excellent for noisy Edinburgh, although quite small but beautifully furnished. We had dinner at the chefs table which was magnificent. They’re lovely rooms for eating and relaxing

I thought the breakfast was a little expensive.

We stayed for one night after arriving on the train from London and left early the next morning to pick up a hire car. The decor of the room was tasteful and modern and the bathroom was lovely. Staff were very helpful on arrival and even offered a glass of prosecco! The location of the hotel is great if you want to explore the Old Town. It is a quick walk to Edinburgh castle.

Unfortunately, this property is a steep uphill hike from Edinburgh Waverley train station (despite google telling you it is "mostly flat"). The heating is adjusted on the TV and didn't really feel like it worked very well. The room we booked didn't really have a view - we had a view of the next building; it is being renovated and is covered in scaffolding. We tried ordering room service on the TV (all things are controlled through the room's TV) but it kept glitching and was too difficult so I had to ring reception to order. Despite me ordering specifically three items, we were delivered 4 items (doubled up on one of the items). We realised the error and just tried to eat the extra anyways, and paid for it. Be aware - room service is very pricey.

The spot is amazing, staff are great, and the services offered are amazing.

The service at the concierge was slower than expected. We had to wait over 40 minutes from the time I called for assistance with our bags until we could check out. Additionally, I requested masking tape, which took another 30 minutes to be delivered. For breakfast, I ordered two meals and specified that, as a Muslim family, we only eat Halal food. I requested the removal of bacon and even double-checked with the staff. However, the meals still arrived with bacon, requiring another 28 minutes to rectify the issue. While the hotel itself is amazing, there are areas where the service could be improved.

Fabulous interior, very quirky and historical but our room was changed from the one I booked and I didn't like the layout at all, you literally walked straight into your bathroom sink and dressing area from the front door otherwise the hotel was gorgeous .Great bar area and all the staff were excellent especially the two porters who went the extra mile ( literally )who actually came with us in the taxi to our next hotel we were staying at to help us with our bags due to the weather..perfect position, close to everything..I would definitely recommend it and stay there again but in a different room ...
