We loved the warm welcome from the staff offering juice /tea freely and the touches in the room … fresh fruit , water bottles and at reception wee bowls of sweets and biscuits offered . The art work throughout the hotel by Zara is gorgeous .Very special work from a gifted lady . We missed out taxi on departure day and the very kindly owner took us to the station which avoided getting soaked on the rain . Many thanks for your kindness 🌺

We wished our room was bigger but that’s ok . We didn’t know it was far to walk to the town centre so had to work out distances carefully , but apart from that, a friendly hotel .

As a budget-friendly hotel, you can’t really fault this place. It’s not fancy but it costs less than half what other hotels in the area cost. Our room was clean and comfy. The shower was hot and had decent water pressure. The staff on the front desk were so friendly and welcoming every time we saw them, and gave us free fruit and water and a red rose on arrival. They made our stay feel special.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating to drop on-drop off luggages before / after check-in or check-out time. There were free collations available. It is very close to the Elephant Castle subway station and at walking distance from the London and Tower bridges. The neighbourood was quiet and safe. Very pleasant stay. The room was equiped with 3 beds and a little fridge, which was convenient when we were too tied to have dinner outside. It is also very close to a supermarket that closes at 11 PM.

The showers are really small so it might be challenging for some people and the air conditioning was out of order, so we slept with the windows open and ear plugs ( was ok). However for a family stay to visit London in a budget conscious way, this was the perfect compromise and we would surely come back.

We really enjoyed our time at City London Hotel, while budget, its an unbeatable location - close to Waterloo and a stones throw from the Imperial War Museum, and great local pubs offering amazing food. We experienced a fantastic first night of sunset horizon views of London (The Shard /Gerkin) from our room on one of the upper floors. We were greeted with kindness and warmth at with staff reception, and we loved the quirky and fun exterior, and interior of classic english soft furnishings. The welcoming charm of the reception staff we met during our stay in July 2024 was most appreciated, they took care to meet our needs and make us feel valued. The breakfast was plentiful and sufficient and our rooms were cozy and clean with comfortable beds and enough space for suitcases and our bits and pieces. The shower was surprisingly amazing. This hotels offers charm and a unique quirkiness you don't get at the chain hotels. Its not the ritz but has the charm of English beachside hotel of yesteryear with the welcome and kindness not seen often in chain franchises. The staff are professional and endeavour to make sure all your needs are met. Having stayed a few $$$ hotels, I loved the unique style, decor and charm of City London Hotel. Its not as fancy and polished as other places, but I would love to come back again to experience their welcome again and thank their staff for a lovely stay.

We had an issue with our shower initially but it was quickly sorted out, and then once working was a highlight of our stay! Amazing shower!

The warmest welcome I've ever received. I arrived early and was able to put my bag in before check-in. I was offered green tea and a biscuit, I've stayed at 5-star hotels and have not been offered this before! There was also fruit (oranges and apples) you could help yourself to in reception together with sweets and biscuits. My room was ready before 2pm but they cannot guarantee this. I had a single room as I had a meeting at The Ministry that night which is a short walk away. In the room, there was an apple and an orange, which were delicious, a packet of biscuits, tea/coffee together with a bottle of water. There were the following in the room but I didn't use them, TV, iron/ironing board, safe, bathrobe/slippers, hair dryer & WiFi. I used the fridge for items I had purchased at the Tesco Express which is just down the road and the kettle for my morning tea. The Mercato Metropolitano is close by too which is a large open-plan eatery (you can't take single-use plastic in with you but you get it back when you exit) with many different food vendors. I walked from the Elephant & Castle tube, which was a short flat walk. Their aims are to provide you with a warm and friendly atmosphere and a home-away-from-home experience and they certainly deliver on that. They offer a 10% discount to returning guests. If I need accommodation in this area again I will 100% use here as good value, comfortable bed and such friendly, warm staff. I was sent on my way with a bottle of water and some more biscuits which was a lovely touch. Thank you, Mohammed and the team for an enjoyable comfortable stay.

Could have been cleaner as some dust on the surfaces but as my friend pointed out no one could meet my OCD standards. I raised this at the front desk and they were extremely apologetic, explaining that someone should be checking the rooms before release and they would look into it. The walls were thin (I think that's everywhere though) so I could hear next door's alarm and the hairdryer but with the 11 am check out I got more sleep.

Very clean room, was upgraded from single room to double. During the warmer nights, it was such a pleasure to have AC. Had a comfortable night and would return and the reception staff very courteous.

Toilet rim needed cleaning saw this while sitting on bed. The room was tired and needed a coat of paint. Even where the bed was moved had scraped the wall and just left. If attention was given to upgrading rooms, I would tell more people about the hotel.

Lovely helpful staff, couldn't do enough for us, great location for sights we were there to visit. Close to shops for food supplies.

Bit of a water incident from upstairs but manager was on it immediately and resolved quickly. They are doing some bathrooms updates so unfinished elements. Neighbours were rather noisy thankfully only stayed one night.

Great location, great facilities, staff excellent and great hospitality. Room had everything we needed, tea, coffee, juice, water, fresh fruit and biscuits. The complementary breakfast was great. A good selection and something for everyone. The staff were extremely helpful considering we booked same day for that night. Everything was ready and had no issues at all. Me and my friends loved everything about it and would stay here again. Fantastic 5* thank you

The hotel was perfect for the length of time we were there. It was spotlessly clean, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. There are complementary bottles of water and little treats of sweets, biscuits, and fruit. The breakfast of tea/coffee cereal toast eggs are also complementary and enough to get you started on your visit around the city of London .i would highly recommend anyone to stay here, and if/when I return to London, this would definitely be a place to go back to.

There was nothing bad to say about this hotel

The room was in the basement with a shared Toilet and Shower room. Key Fob locking system. Nice and comfortable double bed. Towels provided. TV, tea and coffee making facilities, tiled floor. A nice breakfast was available for a separate price, 'full English Breakfast' with turkey rashers instead of bacon, a weird sausage and two runny fried eggs. Tea or Coffee was provided together fresh fruit juices, or a continental breakfast. It was a last minute choice due to not being able to get into my previous choice of accommodation, but I should have made it my first choice. Nice and handy location for a return visit.

The only thing that I didn't like were the small windows at the top of the wall that let in the light as they didn't have any curtains.
