Convenience - 3 mins walk from Ohiradai tozan train station Cleaniness - Very clean facilities throughout - from lobby to our room to public bath to onsen Atmosphere - quiet and relaxing, perfect for a getaway from city life in Tokyo Style - excellent mix between traditional and modern, my kids were so excited about tatami Onsen and public bath - my kids (6 and 9) were able to get into the onsen and had a great experience of this Japanese tradition. Public bath facilities are very nicely maintained, my kids found it fun as well! Our family had such a great time there.

Food options - Lunch and dinner aren't available onsite but the staff can order delivery for you. Breakfast is provided by the ryoken every morning (western style) Location - Only a short walk from the Tozan train station but it can get dark at night with limited street light, and we were walking on a very narrow side walk, so better to check in before evening!

The highlight of our stay at this property was undoubtedly the exceptional staff. Every member we encountered was incredibly polite and respectful. We are especially grateful to Nukumizu, who went above and beyond to assist us during our time here. Despite the language barrier, they made us feel completely at ease. The hotel itself is impeccably clean and exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The location is very easily accessible with multiple busses and a train station 3 minutes away. It's very beautiful and peaceful, and the 2 onsens are heavenly. The staff was very helpful and kind, and the lounge is a very nice and cozy place to spend an evening listening to the nicely curated vinyl collection freely. The room is also very clean and with a great view. Facilities and amenities are amazing. Again, the onsens are exceptional and it's even better when you get to enjoy the evening peace of the forest while soaking in.

Perhaps the futons could be more comfortable, and there could be more variety at breakfast, as there aren't many options for different types of people who might have special requirements. The hotel is also closed at random times so it might be difficult to store luggage, but otherwise the staff is very accommodating. Our room specified 3 people could sleep there, but I'd wager it would be a bit of a squeeze.

The staffs were very helpful to help for a lift to the station and help us to call the bus station to find our lost pram from the last bus when we arrived.

They don’t have shuttle service and no dinner restaurant as they are having very short staffs. But you can walk back up hills to the station to catch the bus or train to another town for food or bring back to it in their self serve kitchen. Remember to check the last train and bus to go back to the hotel as everything closes early. And most of the restaurants may not accept children. No washing machine to rent or laundry services. Make sure you bring enough clothes if you have young children with you but don’t pack big luggage as it will be very hard to travel with big luggages like us. We have no choices as we travel everywhere from Tokyo to Hakone then Osaka and back to Tokyo.

Blended in nature. The hot springs are clean, well-maintained and beautiful. The staff are so helpful. I headed out for dinner and all places were full. They managed to find a small eatery nearby for us. The hotel also has a dinning room and kitchen that you can use for quick prepared meal. The library is warm and cozy. There’s a record player and a huge collection of oldies jazz & blue.

Fantastic ryokan. Even better than I expected. The staff treat you like king. The place is kept clean. Breakfast in mornings. Public baths you can use. The room stellar, clean, had a fantastic view. The location is beautiful. Train station a minute walk away, will take you to town and further for restaurants or conbinis. The train stations are picturesque. Shrines, and streams nearby. I had lost my luggage and they called the JR lost and found for me (they had my luggage so relieved!) Above and beyond!!! When I think of the hospitality, attention to detail, and beauty of Japan, this hotel comes to mind. When I went out at night they brought me my shoes and gave me a flashlight because it was very dark out. Hotels in Tokyo will be triple the price with half the service. Do yourself a favour and spend a few nights here. Enjoy this side of Japan.

A cozy, relax and quiet stay in this Ryokan. The location is very near to ohiradai station with mountain environment which make it very quiet and peaceful stay here. Our room has a mountain view which is what we looking for. The outdoor onsen is superb with the mountain atmosphere. There are nice facilities, lounge , reading area, kitchen, onsens, a very special Ryokan. There are simple breakfast provided, which is a value add.

The location is not very easy if come by public transport. The hill road leading to the hotel with carrying luggages is quite killing.

The staff at Hakone Suisen are so kind and made me feel so welcome! They are foreigner (Eng. lang) friendly, and will guide you about the facilities as well. The ryokan is an easy 5-6 minute walk from the Ohiradai train station. The room I had was extremely clean as well. My room had a private onsen, which was very clean as well. Since this ryokan does not provide dining services, you will need to bring your own food with you (either packaged or ingredients to cook). If you opt to cook, you will need to reserve time in the kitchen to do so. As a solo traveler, Hakone Suisen was amazing as my first time staying at a ryokan. When I booked I let them know it would be my birthday the day of my arrival, and they provided me free celebratory champagne and a birthday card with a photo! It really made my birthday even more special. I will definitely book with them again the next time I visit Hakone.

Very spacious and lovely room, comfortable futon beds. Brilliant Japanese style shower room and toilet. Nice free breakfast and the staff were very nice and helpful, one guy helping me with dinner on the first night, speaking good English too! Close to the train station/bus stop and a nice Izakaya nearby.

Possibly could have been closer for the main hakone free pass trip, but still a good area. I unfortunately didn't get time to use the onsen so cannot judge that.
