This is a very well run establishment with friendly staff. Exceptionally well appointed room with all kinds of handy things about the room such as ironing boards and irons. Ultra-clean and very comfortable. Quiet location despite being very central. Our room (6, the Nicholas Hawksmoor Room) was on the back of the house and that certainly helped in this regard. You can either go to the breakfast room or have your breakfast brought to you in the room in what looked like a picnic hamper, ordering it the previous evening from a list that you leave hanging on the door. Excellent shower.

Nothing to really dislike, although my partner could have done with a firmer pillow. There could be more things to choose from on the breakfast list, but this is nit picking.

An older but beautifully kept hotel with loads of charm. Very clean. GREAT location. Lots of plugs and usb ports available. Staff was amazing from checkin to cleaning to checkout. Very willing to hold our luggage for us - both on arrival and the day we left. Supplies in room refreshed every day - including water, tea, cookies and towels. Our room faced the street with a lively student union across from us. It was not a problem. We still left our windows open but ran some white noise on our phones and slept like babies.

We asked if they would consider installing a hook or two in the bathroom for robe or pjs. Staff made a note. Bed was very firm (rm 12)so after the first night I made some layers to sleep on top of. Bear in mind if you go during hot season there is no AC - but a small fan is provided.

Breakfast is served to your room in a hamper which is excellent. Cereal, meat, cheese and breads as well as fruit juice and coffee. Yummy. It is so easy to walk anywhere from the hotel and all the shops and many colleges are right on the doorstep.

No lift but at least the staff were very obliging helping us with our cases. St Michael’s Road is part of the Oxford Zero Emissions location so taxis have to pay a fee to pick up there. There are no Ubers in Oxford but that is the same for every Hotel!

Perfect location. Warm, attractive and comfortable room. I really liked that the curtains were draught proof and the room was also pitch dark, no light at all, which was great. Was the room sound proofed? Because I heard nothing from anywhere except the corridor and it was an incredibly quiet hotel. Staff were very friendly competent and helpful. I would stay in this hotel if I visit Oxford again.

It was a very quiet hotel and the only thing I can think of that I would have different would be a soft close toilet seat.

The staff was very helpful and solicitous. The property is in the heart of Oxford and everything was within walking distance. The room was clean and the property was well kept. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone staying in Oxford. Lots of restaurants, shopping and of course colleges close by.

The mattress wasn't very comfortable - a foam topper would help. The room was cramped with little room to open our suitcases but staying in a refurbished older building, you know compromises are necessary.

The price is really really good for the rooms we had. It was cosy and really clean. If someone expects 5*, its not that. Buts its so nice, clean and welcoming like i would go to my nana. Location is center and all is walk distance. As we arrived on Christmas eve we got small christmas gift which melted our hearts completely! Thank you x

The only made me think could be better the gap between bedhead and materass was too big and pillows was falling in there during sleep. But materas was very comfy!

Excellent location in the heart of Oxford, room was lovely, nice heritage features but comfy bed and modern decor / bathroom. Coffee machine in room very good (Nespresso, four pods provided and more downstairs if you’re a caffeine addict like me) and shower products provided. I paid £20 extra for late check out (1pm) so I could get work done in my room, but the staff let me continue working (for free) in the downstairs breakfast room until 5pm which was very kind of them, and Juian (reception) very kindly printed off a document for me. They will also look after your case after checkout if you wish.

There is no breakfast (you can have a breakfast hamper delivered to room, but there is a great cafe next door (Handle Bar Cafe) above a bicycle shop, nice healthy choices and smoothies, and a good coffee/ pastry place in the other direction called The Society. So was not a problem for me. Old building, so no lifts. It is not cheap, but staff were extremely helpful and service levels high if you ask for anything.

Centrally located, comfortable, and everyone working there was very kind and helpful. Also, quite considering it’s smack in the center of a number of pubs and shops. The staff was super accommodating, moving me to a lower floor because of my heavy luggage. I also suffered a medical emergency during my stay and they bent over backward to get me a ride to the hospital, and then packing up my stuff in my room so that I didn’t have to pay for more days just for my luggage. Lovely lovely people.

I can’t speak highly enough about the staff. There is nothing I disliked.

The location is great, in downtown Oxford. The room was clean as was the bathroom. But if you stay here expect it to be more for the location than the room. The staff were pleasant.

It is technically located in the no driving zone - you can get to it to check in if you drive but you can't park there and nearby parking is shockingly expensive. There was construction going on outside the building next door which made getting around a bit tricky.
